As the 2021 Angels prepare for their sixtieth Opening Day, we’re beginning the season celebrating the top sixty players in franchise history.
In 1969, Major League Baseball went through another expansion. Four teams were added to MLB, with two being added to the National League and two to the American League. The expansion teams were awarded to Montreal (NL), San Diego (NL), Kansas City (AL), and Seattle (AL). All four of these cities still have MLB teams today, but the Seattle expansion team of 1969 (Seattle Pilots) only lasted one season. The Pilots were relocated to Milwaukee in 1970, and they became the Milwaukee Brewers.
Since 2000 alone, the Indians produced 13 seasons of .500 ball or better, making it to the playoffs seven times. I am getting pretty sick of people complaining about their favorite baseball team already. It has not even been a week and seasons are already lost. I can practically see peoples blood pressure rising through their twitter accounts.
Andruw Jones is looking to improve on the 7.3% of the vote he received last year. This is his second year on the ballot and he is not trending in the right direction. That is a shame as he was an amazing centerfielder but will he get that plaque in Cooperstown.
As Barry Bonds heads into his 7th year of Hall of Fame eligibility, the question still remains if players that were accused of steroid use at any point in their career should be allowed into the Hall. Bonds is coming off a 2018 ballot in which he sat at 56.4% of the vote, still needing an 18.6% increase to get in. Will this be the year that the voters decide to let steroid users in, thus inducting Bonds?
