The story of Nick Foles was one of the most unlikely sports stories of all-time; it’s also the story of an underdog proving his worth and stepping in after an injury twice to prove his worth.
It’s no secret how bad the Colts offensive line was in 2017 – they allowed 56 sacks and forced their quarterbacks to constantly run for their lives every play. They were rated the worst offensive line by many of the NFL’s experts, and the offensive line was a focal point of improvement that the Colts needed to make to keep their newly healthy QB Andrew Luck on his feet.
During Week 17 of the 2018 NFL Season, the Browns and Ravens faced off in a meaningless game for the Browns, and a meaningful game for the Ravens, because with a win, the Ravens would clinch the AFC North and go to the playoffs for the first time since 2014. The Ravens managed to take care of the Browns at home 26-24, therefore clinching a playoff birth and giving them a chance to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LIII.

Previously in this multi-article chain, I went over the quarterbacks from the ’40’s to ’65. The QB position changed in that quarter century from a man who hands the ball off to a man who throws the football down the field. However, the QB position would change even more in this eleven-year span than it did in the previous 25-year span.
The QB position is the most important on the football field and possibly in sports. Here are all the starting QBs ranked through the first five weeks of the NFL season.

You have to call all the plays, dissect defenses, detect blitzes, throw through a gauntlet of defenders to receivers, and run around when it’s necessary. We all know the QB position requires a lot of practice and work, but how has it changed since the 1940’s? This is what we will be going through today with future articles looking at each era and the evolution of the QB position. Be prepared for a history lesson.
A disappointing loss to the Falcons in last year’s playoffs derailed what still can be seen as a major step forward. The Rams seem to have gotten better over the offseason as well. We will take a look at why the Rams are the team to beat this year in the NFC.
