Continuing our series, let’s take a look at the NL Central champs from last year. The Milwaukee Brewers are obviously in win-now mode, but their starting pitching may be a little light. More on that in the Team Preview coming next month. For now, let’s dive into the top guys they have in their system. We may actually see a couple of them this season.
Last night the Milwaukee Brewers surprisingly struck a deal with the top remaining catcher on the market. According to multiple reports from The Athletic, Yasmani Grandal and the Brewers came to an agreement on a one-year $18.25 million deal.
“Tramposo! Tromposo!”
That’s Spanish for Cheater or “cheat.” There’s no real connection between deception in baseball and my use of the Spanish language. I just wanted to grab your attention.

Finally, a series that lived up to the hype. A little closer then I thought it would be, but I have been predicting the Dodgers to make a repeat trip to the Fall Classic. After an intense seven-game fight with the Brewers, the Dodgers will move on to face a well-rested Boston Red Sox club.

This matchup comes as no surprise as both teams won their respective divisions. They both had different journeys to get here but only one can advance. The series starts Friday and is one you will not want to miss.
At 5:07 PM ET the first Division Series game will start. It features the Milwaukee Brewers hosting the Colorado Rockies. There are bound to be some home runs hit and some great pitcher vs hitter battles as both teams have power bats in their lineups and power arms out of their pens.
The Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers are both 95-67. Today at 1PM ET they will square off in Wrigley field. The winner will be the #1 seed in the NL and the loser will host the Wild Card game tomorrow night. Pride, home field in the playoffs, and two days off are riding on today’s game 163.

The Brewers acquired lefty reliever Xavier Cedeno from the White Sox, starter Gio Gonzalez from the Nationals, and Curtis Granderson from the Blue Jays. These moves improve the Brewers for the stretch run and show how they are serious about competing this season. Each player provides an upgrade to the Brewers in a major way. For Milwaukee, it will be an exciting ride down the stretch.
