Assessing the Tigers Trade Pieces

At the start of the season, the Detroit Tigers had a glimmer of hope. With a rotation of Matt Moore, Michael Fulmer, Matt Boyd, Jordan Zimmermann, and Daniel Norris, the Tigers looked to improve upon their first season under Ron Gardenhire. However, the injury bug hit… and it hit hard. This bug depleted the rotation as well as the infield and has forced the Tigers and Al Avila into an ultimatum- time to sell and pick up prospects.

Andrew Vaughn Draft Preview

Andrew Vaughn is a first baseman at the University of California. He was born on April 3rd, 1998 to Diana and Toby Vaughn. Vaughn was a four-year varsity player for Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa, California. He made the honor roll at Maria Carrillo all eight semesters that he attended the school. He won the North Bay League Freshman of the Year in 2013, Sophomore of the Year in 2014, Junior of the Year in 2015, and North Bay Player of the Year in 2016. He surprisingly only hit one career home run in high school, but he had an impressive career stat line hitting .380 and only striking out 15 times in four years. At Cal, Vaughn won the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award in 2017 and was a first-team freshman All-American. He spent the summer of 2017 on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and won team MVP honors after the U.S. beat Japan. As a sophomore in 2018, Vaughn won the Golden Spikes award as the best amateur baseball player in the country. He also won National Player of the Year. Vaughn tied the Cal record for home runs in a single season with 23. Clearly, he is no stranger to winning awards. Vaughn is one of the most decorated baseball players in the country with endless potential.

Detroit Tigers 2019 Team preview

It’s hard to believe that the Tigers had Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Justin Verlander, and Max Scherzer and never won a World Series. They never even won a World Series game (lost 4-0 to Giants in 2012.) Now, the Tigers are in a full rebuild. Cabrera is the only remaining star from those great teams and he is very quickly fading away. So what do they look like now? Let’s dig into the 2019 Detroit Tigers.

Miguel Cabrera’s Injury Will Cost The Detroit Tigers

Once again, we are witnessing why baseball teams extending players too far can be disastrous. I’m not talking about paying them too much. I’m talking about giving them long contract extensions that, and I rarely use this term, ALWAYS end up proving a player’s talents are one thing, but what their bodies will allow them to do is another thing entirely.
