In my last offering, I suggested using the Rays’ bulk reliever as a streaming option on Wednesday. Jalen Beeks got the call to follow Ryne Stanek as an opener. The outing wasn’t quite was I was expecting or hoping to see from Beeks.
Good morning/afternoon, 10 games on the schedule today with half of them being matinees with the earliest set for 1:10 eastern. Highlights of where we want to attack are featured in the following games; Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Pirates at St.Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers at Houston Astros, and Washington Nationals at the L.A. Every Wednesday we will take a look at the history of one team. You will get some background, iconic players and moments, and postseason results. For this week, let’s take a look at the Pittsburgh Pirates who have a long history with many iconic moments and players.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were only able to manage one win against the Cubs in Chicago. The Pittsburgh Pirates got swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks in Pittsburgh. The Dodgers have a record of 16-11, and the Pirates have a record of 12-11. Let’s take a look at the matchup for this weekend between the Dodgers and the Pirates.

The baseball season is a grind. It’s every single day. We will approach DFS the same way and be winners at the end of the season even if we have our hot streaks and slumps. Let’s dive in on the plays for today.
It’s a mere 5 days until the real opening day, with apologies to the Mariners and Athletics. For those of you under the age of 50, MLB at one time had a traditional opening day and game, featuring the Cincinnati Reds. I miss those days. I also think the designated hitter is an abomination, to paraphrase Crash Davis. So you can surmise my feelings on the impending implementation of the DH in the National League. I offer my own solution to the imbalance between leagues, abolish the DH altogether.
Entering 2018 the Pirates had many question marks surrounding the future of this team. Franchise icon Andrew McCutchen and ace Gerrit Cole were traded away for prospects. As a result, the expectations in Pittsburgh were low and another rebuild seemed to be underway. The Pirates failed to make the playoffs however many of their young players took steps forward. Led by a talented rotation this group could be a sleeper team in the NL Central.
Pittsburgh Pirates Top 5 Prospects
As Barry Bonds heads into his 7th year of Hall of Fame eligibility, the question still remains if players that were accused of steroid use at any point in their career should be allowed into the Hall. Bonds is coming off a 2018 ballot in which he sat at 56.4% of the vote, still needing an 18.6% increase to get in. Will this be the year that the voters decide to let steroid users in, thus inducting Bonds?
With Spring Training fastly approaching many questions still remain for the Pittsburgh Pirates. One area that they do not have to worry about is the starting rotation which could rank among baseballs best.
