Week eight is here and some fresh power-rankings are out. This is the first installment of The Scorecrow’s top 10 power rankings. There has been some teams that have been consistent, some teams that have been disappointing, and some really surprising teams. So let’s break down the top 10.
FRANKIE MONTAS, SP OAK

Frankie Montas sounds like a pop star or a child actor. After an unsuccessful stint in show business, Montas decided to try his hand at baseball. And man, is it paying off. While none of this is remotely true, Frankie Montas has arrived and has taken the league by storm:

It’s a new year and expectations are high in Oakland entering the 2019 season. The A’s surprised the baseball world last year as they finished with ninety-seven wins in a year they were supposed to rebuild. With the A’s young players getting more experience they could again be a sleeper team this coming season.
The Oakland Athletics A’s were one of baseball’s biggest surprises last season as they finished second in the AL West with ninety-seven wins. On top of contending earlier than many expected they also possess the seventh best farm system in baseball. Led by two talented arms and a plethora of position players the A’s will only continue to improve.
The New York Yankees host the Oakland Athletics at 8PM ET tonight. While the Yankees set the major league record with 267 HRs, the A’s were no slouch clubbing 227. With a bullpen game likely in store from the A’s side, the Yankees throw Luis Severino who couldn’t get out of the first inning last year. This could be a slugfest.
The Red Sox have undergone a historic 2018 campaign in Alex Cora’s first year at the helm of the squad.
Major League Baseball’s 2018 draft is still clearly visible in the rearview mirror, but there are plenty of storylines to consider moving forward.
