I don’t pick pitchers pitching in Colorado visiting. I typically don’t pick prospects pitching in their first game up unless they’re elite talents facing an excellent matchup. And I don’t pick pitchers coming off of injury unless they’re a number one or two fantasy starter facing an excellent matchup, which you normally wouldn’t get in a streamer option anyway. Well, I decided to pick Steven Matz for us all anyway, and he proceeded to get decimated by the Marlins. THE MARLINS?!? He allowed two runs on five hits and two walks in 3.2 innings pitched, though he at least got six strikeouts out of the ordeal. It just goes to show you, kids: follow the rules, especially the ones you put on yourself. They’re usually there for a reason.

I have decided to join Frank in his “Deep Dive” articles because it’s a great concept that puts a spotlight on underperforming players who aren’t reaching their full potential. Amed Rosario had loads of potential when he got the first call-up but he has fallen out of favor. Let’s dive into it.

No matter the player or prospect pedigree, most hot starts fall off, while the elite can maintain and finish on a high note. But how can we tell if a hot April is sustainable or just a hot streak? Digging into a player’s profile can tell you if they are doing something they have never done before. Here are three players that are currently breaking out.
Eduardo Rodriguez entered the league back in 2015, and it feels as if we have been waiting for him to breakout forever. However, it is important to remember that he is still only 26 years old. The young lefty has tantalizing stuff that has drawn the attention of fantasy owners each draft season and boasts a devastating change-up as his out pitch. The problem for Rodriguez is that he has been unable to stay healthy for a full season, throwing a career-high 137.1 innings back in 2017. If he could just stay on the field, he could put up impressive numbers. I took a deep dive on Rodriguez and the results are promising.
Brent Honeywell Jr. underwent Tommy John surgery in February 2018 and was expected to be back in the pitching fold by now, however yesterday we learned that he has been shut down again because of nerve irritation and pain at his elbow. Fans are not happy with this current news and don’t really understand what is going on.

There are also emerging talents like Adalberto Mondesi and Tim Anderson. But despite such an abundance of talent, we need to make sure not to ignore Corey Seager.
