The Boston Bruins have made a quick turnaround after their Game 7 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs and just
10 games on the slate for your Tuesday evening puck. Teams are still vying for playoff spots and division titles so the urgency to grab as many wins in only a handful of games is a driving force for many clubs. My targeted games are as follows: Colorado Avalanche hosting Edmonton, the surprisingly much better Detroit Red Wings at home to Pittsburgh, San Jose at Vancouver and Columbus versus the Bruins.
The choices are not so obvious this time around for DraftKings selections for Tuesday. Bound to be quite a bit of variance, so perhaps GPP’s is the way to go tonight. My top game to target is Washington at New Jersey followed by Toronto at Nashville, and Columbus at Calgary. Here we go!
Two surprise teams sit atop the top three spots in the Metropolitan Division in the New York Islanders and the Carolina Hurricanes with the Washington Capitals right there at the top with them. The Pittsburgh Penguins are just a single point away from third and the Columbus Blue Jackets are three points away with a game in hand on each of them. The Philadelphia Flyers are now slipping away, they are seven points back from playoff contention. The New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils round out the division and have been out of the playoff picture for a good portion of the season. Let’s go over each team’s situation for the rest of this season and beyond.
Not a mega-slate for Thursday in the NHL but a good size 7 game card is on tap. The following are my favorites for high-event probability: Philadelphia at Columbus, Edmonton at Ottawa, Florida at Las Vegas and Tampa Bay at Boston. The trade deadline has come and gone with some notable names being shipped to teams that are all in to make a push towards a championship. We have our typical full offering of games for Tuesday, some of which feature players involved in the deadline day deals. San Jose at Boston, Buffalo at Philadelphia, Ottawa at Washington and Pittsburgh at Columbus all should be on your radar.
The Columbus Blue Jackets continue to make huge splashes in the trade market as the team announced today that they have acquired goaltender Keith Kinkaid from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a 2022 fifth round pick. Also today, the Blue Jackets acquired defenseman Adam McQuaid from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenseman Julius Bergman, a 2019 fourth-round pick, and a 2019 seventh round pick.
The Blue Jackets continue to improve upon their trade deadline success as they announced yesterday that they have acquired center Ryan Dzingel, along with a seventh-round pick in 2019 from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for left winger Anthony Duclair, and two second-round picks in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
Due to recent events, Columbus seems more content on keeping the pending free agent as their own rental player and going really going all out on a playoff push.
The NBA is still on all-star break so this is a great opportunity to get in on some NHL action. We got some teams that are playing really well and are showing no signs of letting up so let’s hope they can keep things going for us. Highlighting the card tonight are Sabres at Panthers, Penguins at Devils, Rangers at Hurricanes and Blue Jackets at Canadiens.
