It was a disappointing 2018-19 season for the Flyers. However, what’s done is done, time to put last season aside, and look forward.
Manchester City and Watford have met six times in the FA Cup, with the Blues winning three, drawing two and losing once. It’s not been the easiest of routes to the final, for City down 2-0 at Swansea City in the quarter-finals. They were able to creep back into that contest, winning 3-2. The Swans were dominated for the most part outside of the scoreboard. But credit to them, they were able to score on each of their shots on target.
The Boston Bruins locked up their spot in the Eastern Conference Final on Monday night by defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-0 in Game Six of their second-round series. Carolina will be facing a very familiar foe in the Bruins, having gone up against them in three of their five playoff seasons. For the Bruins, this is their third appearance in the conference finals in the last nine seasons.
Going into last season, the Minnesota Vikings broke the bank, to bring in highly coveted free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins. Expectations were quite high, only to end up missing the playoffs. The final nail in the coffin was a week 17 loss to the Chicago Bears. Looking towards the draft, the Vikings have eight picks, including two six and seven round selections. It wouldn’t be very surprising to see the Vikings take a pair of offensive linemen in the first four rounds.
Coming off a dreadful 7-9 record, where they missed out on the playoffs, two years removed from a Superbowl appearance, the Atlanta Falcons enter the draft with an eye on four main positions: offensive line, edge rusher, defensive back and defensive linemen.
The end of the Joe Flacco era officially came to a head, in mid-February, when he was traded to the Denver Broncos for a 4th round pick. Now entering this season as the starter, Lamar Jackson knows the pressure is on, to build upon his late-season progress, where he helped lead them to a Wild Card game against the LA Chargers. This is his team now free and clear, no looking back.
Martin Truex Jr picked up a victory for the first time at a short track in his 14 full-time seasons in the Monster Energy series, snapping an 80 race winless streak. Truex held off a strong chase down from Joey Logano over the final three laps to win Saturday night at Richmond. He had grabbed the lead with 79 laps remaining and held on from there on out, finishing with a race-high 186 laps led.
After a disastrous 2018 season, where they fired longtime head coach Mike McCarthy and were held out of the NFL Playoffs for the second straight season, General manager, Brian Gutekunst realized he needed to make some serious offseason changes to the roster, deciding to break with tradition, Gutekunst went wild in free agency, breaking the bank to beef up considerably on defense.
The 2018-19 Chicago Blackhawks Season much like last season, featured an oft-injured Corey Crawford, uneventful off-season moves, under-performing special teams, and a soft defense. They were coming off a season in which they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2007 and had some cash to spend, but instead of making that huge splash in the summer, the big offseason signings ended up being a 39-year-old Chris Kunitz and longtime Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward, inking both players to one-year deals.
In a game where both the Flames and Sharks were still battling for the division crown, the Flames struck the decisive blow, earning the 5-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night. This is the first division title for Calgary in 13 years, and the first Conference title since 1989.
The Sharks have clinched a spot in the postseason again. Can they finally raise Lord Stanley’s Cup this year?
