Alex Smith – Another Gruesome sports injury

What do Paul George, Kevin Ware, Joe Theismann, and Alex Smith have in common?  If you were watching football on Sunday, then you know that they all suffered a gruesome sports injury – a lower leg fracture involving both bones in the lower leg.  In medical terms, this is a Tib-Fib fracture.  In sports terms, these injuries dominate more than one list of gruesome sports injuries.

Week 10 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em

Week 10. It is only four weeks away from the fantasy playoffs and it is more important than ever to figure out the matchups we should be targeting to help us bring home that W. Do not be the person who benches the player about to go off because he had a bad game recently. Based on this week’s matchups, I recommend that you start or sit the following players.

Who Are the Washington Redskins?

At the halfway point in the NFL season, the Redskins have shocked everybody by sitting at the top of the NFC East division with a 5-3 record. However, the NFC East is nothing to brag about, to say the least. Watching this division race unfold is like seeing a brand new Lamborghini sitting outside just waiting to be driven by somebody. However, the Lamborghini is locked so you can’t open it and you just walk away leaving the beautiful car to collect dust. What these teams do not know is that the keys to this prize are in their own pockets as we speak, it is theirs for the taking.

2018 NFL Trade Deadline Grades, with Fantasy Breakdown

The 2018 NFL trade deadline was yesterday and usually there isn’t much movement. Once every few years there is a name player traded that has a real impact on a team and has some fantasy implications. When Amari Cooper was traded to the Cowboys last week, many expected that to be the “big move” prior to the deadline. However, the NFL once again won as the trade deadline saw five trades involving name players, four of which included serious draft capital.

Week 7 Streaming Options: QB, TE, D/ST, K, and Deep “Boom” Plays

Has anyone noticed that my “boom” plays go boom a week or two after I feature them? So unfortunate in the timing. Albert Wilson, c’mon man! Went off this past week. And don’t even get me started on Mason Crosby. Recommended him last week, and he saw plenty of opportunities and missed everything. If he hit all 6 of his kicks including his extra point attempt he would’ve had 21 points. 21. From a kicker. Then he goes and scores 17 against the Niners the next week.

Is there an ACL Injury Epidemic in the NFL?

Jay Ajayi, Jerick McKinnon, Jimmy Garoppolo, Keanu Neal, Derrius Guice, William Hayes, and Jeremy Hill,  headline the list of NFL feature players who have been bitten by the ACL injury bug that has driven football fans crazy. Jay Ajayi became the 39th reported ACL injury since March 2018. Everyone is discussing the epidemic of ACL injuries but in actuality, the numbers haven’t changed by a statistically significant amount since detailed injury statistics for all NFL teams started to be compiled during the 2000-2001 season. Typically every NFL team experiences 1.5 ACL injuries per NFL season each year.

The Scorecrow NFL Power 16 – Week 2

Week one is officially in the books and to the surprise of no one, there were fireworks everywhere. As is normally the case, week one brought about upsets, disappointments and shocking performances. With that said it’s time to see who were the biggest movers in the week two addition of The Scorecrow NFL Power 16.

Going Back in Time to Plan for the Future

The regular NFL season is here and so is the fantasy season. It’s time to set your lineup but who should you start? As we get deeper into the season it gets easier to find the trends. How are the snap counts looking, which defense is more susceptible to the running back than another? Since that data isn’t available to us for a few weeks we have to fire up the flux capacitor, get our 1.21 gigawatts, travel back in time, and look to last season.

Derrius Guice Torn ACL – What it Means for the Redskins and Your Fantasy Team

Another meaningless preseason game…another meaningful injury. This week Derrius Guice tore his ACL at the end of the first quarter in their first preseason game versus the New England Patriots. I had Derrius Guice in case you missed it as this year’s second-best rookie running back. It’s a shame that he won’t see the field until next year so we won’t know his full potential until 2019. Guice racked up 19 yards on six attempts for an average of 3.2 YPC.
