What would Anthony Davis in LA mean for Western Conference?

For the first time in a while, there’s a chance of a lights-out dynamic duo taking over the Western Conference.
For anybody who read my DeMarcus Cousins piece on TheScorecrow, available here, they would know that I believe he is not as big of an asset to the Warriors as analysts make him seem. In my debut article, I asserted my idea that Cousins’ Achilles injury may render him almost futile to the Warriors’ organization. With Boogie making his debut for Golden State against the Clippers on January 18 with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in 15 minutes, this follow-up piece will substantiate or negate the predictions I previously made about him six months ago.
I know what you’re thinking: Dear Lord, make this debate stop! Truly, this is one of those arguments that is a vicious cycle and one that will never die. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a correct answer; let’s assume the 1996 Chicago Bulls and present-day Golden State Warriors are playing in the Finals, and check out how these teams stack up player-by-player.
In the past, I’ve heard people debating this when it was a hot topic. Is LeBron James really more than an athlete or not? About a year ago, ESPN broadcast journalist, Carry Champion interviewed LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Carry Champion told LeBron “you’re talking about hate and crime, we are at a watershed moment in this country and we cannot deny that we are very divided especially in the political arena. How do you describe the climate for an athlete with the platform nowadays that want to talk about what’s happening in our world?” LeBron went on to say the President is “someone who doesn’t understand the people—and really don’t give a [****] about the people.”
This week, the Golden State Warriors look to get back on the right track end their three-game home skid. This should be pretty easy as far as NBA games go for Golden State, as they enter one of their easiest weeks of the entire season following two very tough games against some top-flight competition.
If you love to watch top-notch scoring and three-point shooting, this game was for you. Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors with 42 points, including going 10-20 from behind the arc. Buddy Hield did his best to keep the Sacramento Kings in it, exploding for 32 points and setting a new career high with 8 triples in 13 tries. Justin Jackson set a new career high with 28 points, shooting 10-14 from the field. The Warriors continue their quest to break seemingly every three-point record there is, combining with the Kings to make 41 for the game, a new NBA milestone.
At the beginning of the season, I made various predictions about the Western Conference. Like many other NBA fans, I have been blown away by how the Western Conference has panned out. The Golden State Warriors falling apart, Carmelo Anthony leaves the Houston Rockets, and as of right now the Los Angeles Clippers in the top of the standings?!
Welcome Back! Hoop heads we are already into the first week of December and the NBA season, for most teams, is already beginning to take shape for better or worse. Some teams are still fighting the injury bug and others are just losing the fight. We take a deeper look into some of the must-see game this week.
LeBron James will make his return to Cleveland tonight. This will be his first visit to Quicken Loans Arena since joining the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency this past summer. LeBron was booed mercilessly in his first return game against the Cleveland Cavaliers as a member of the Miami Heat in 2010. His return this time is sure to be different for one big reason, LeBron kept his promise.
At this point, there is no question that LeBron James is one of the greatest NBA players of all time, especially when considering the countless achievements throughout his 16-year NBA career. One of his most impressive achievements is passing Wilt Chamberlain on the NBA all-time scoring list.
ESPN’s Stephen A Smith says the Los Angeles Lakers are the front-runners to sign Warriors superstar forward Kevin Durant in free agency next summer. The two-time finals MVP is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, once he declines his player option, as many expect him to do.
Well, I guess it’s a foregone conclusion that the Golden State Warriors will win the title. No sense in watching the NBA this year. As long as they get past LeBron and the Lakers they should demolish whoever comes from the East. Right?
