The year is 2016. Kenyan Drake, running back out of Alabama, is drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the tenth pick of the third round of the NFL Draft. Former fantasy football stud Arian Foster was signed in free agency and Jay Ajayiย was in his sophomore season. Foster was a bust and Ajayi took a stranglehold over the backfield leaving Drake, third on the depth chart, to get 33 carries and scored two touchdowns.
Many of us have played in a traditional fantasy football redraft, keeper, or potentially even a dynasty league. Well, the time has come to create and commission your own dynasty league this offseason. Regardless of league members, every successful dynasty league requires a committed commissioner. With this comprehensive, multi-article guide, you can learn the essentials of setting up and running your very own dynasty league.
“Be number one at everything and do it the right way.” Ask anyone within the Broncos organization what the core values of the franchise are, and that’s what you would hear. Those are not just some random words, it’s by design. Set by someone who has been called ‘the greatest owner in sports,’ Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen.
As summer begins each year, the risk from heat-related illness heats up as the mercury rises. On average over the last 20 years, 3 football players have died from heat-related illness. Most of these have been high school athletes, but it has happened at all levels of football as well as other sports. In 2001, Korey Stringer, an offensive lineman for the Minnesota Vikings died from complications related to heat stroke during training camp. Following his death, Korey’s wife worked to bring the message about heat stroke to as wide an audience as possible. In 2010 the Korey Stringer Institute was founded at the University of Connecticut with the goal of increasing the research on and reducing the risks of Heat Stroke.ย
There is a breath of fresh air as OTAs are underway for the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2019 season. With new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, a new scheme, and new faces, the Chiefs are looking to make a return to the AFC Championship Game, and hopefully, with a better defense. Besides returning leaders Chris Jones and Kendall Fuller along with Frank Clark and Tyrann Mathieu being added to the squad, there are a few players who you may or may not know of, that could be stepping up into bigger roles in 2019.
All this off-season I’ve heard about many teams getting into Super Bowl form. The Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, and many others. But one team that had a good offseason and roster that I haven’t seen much of is the San Francisco 49ers. With a good original group that consists of Pro Bowl players like George Kittle, Joe Staley, DeForest Buckner, and the aging but still talented Richard Sherman and other talents like Marquise Goodwin, Matt Breida, Jerick McKinnon, Solomon Thomas, and a solid O-line, the 49ers seem poised for success. Let’s also not forget their franchise quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, their crown jewel. The 49ers added to this impressive group by bringing in Kwon Alexander, Tevin Coleman, and Jason Verrett and trading for defensive end, Dee Ford. The 49ers have, probably, one of the most well-rounded groups and it would be a shock to me if they missed the playoffs.
Dear David Gettleman,
When I heard the New York Giants had brought back a familiar face back in late 2017, I was thrilled, ecstatic, and in awe of the move. I thought for sure that you would fix the Giants and shape them back into the form they were during the 2016 season and better. You were given the second pick in a draft LOADED with talent at quarterback, and a need at the position. You had a good, young, core with Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram, and Landon Collins along with a talented veteran presence with Janoris Jenkins, Jason Pierre-Paul, Damon Harrison, and Olivier Vernon. Now, just a year-and-a-half later, only three of those eight guys are still on the roster AND THEY AREN’T EVEN THE THREE BEST.
The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t always been failures, they won Super Bowl IV almost 50 years ago and have had successful times since, nothing yielding the coveted Lombardi Trophy, however, so in this article, I will go over year by year how and why they failed to get it done. Note: This is not to slander the Chiefs as an organization it’s to bring attention to their failures.
May 3rd was the deadline to pick up the fifth-year options for the 2016 first round picks. Now that it has passed and with three seasons to see how the draft class has played, it’s fair to look back and do a re-draft! For the purposes of this re-draft, I’m going to keep all trades in place. As a reminder, there were only 31 first-round picks because as the New England Patriots forfeited theirs as a result of the Deflategate investigation.
Last night, two-time Super Bowl champion defensive end Chris Long announced his retirement on Twitter, after eight seasons with the St. Louis Rams, one with the New England Patriots, and finishing his last two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Each year, an exciting new class of prospects enters the National Football League and fantasy players become scouts as they attempt to identify that cornerstone player for their dynasty team. It is essential to become acquainted with this new crop of talent in order to gain the upper hand on your league mates. Now that the NFL Draft has concluded, it is time to rank and evaluate the rookies that should be selected in the first round of your rookie draft.
