NBA DFS Picks – 11-12-19

Before I get to my NBA DFS picks for tonight, I would like to thank The Scorecrow for giving me a place to bring you my thoughts. This is the first article I am writing for the site and I could not be more excited to be part of the DFS family here. Just like some of you, I work a full-time job. Playing and researching daily fantasy sports gets my mind off the work grind. It’s also five degrees outside as I write this so there’s that too. It’s cold up here in the Northwoods and my goal is to bring us some fire for this NBA DFS slate. Let’s light this baby up.

Playoff Preview: Denver Nuggets vs. Portland Trail Blazers

Two teams that continue to surprise from the beginning of the season even to now as we get into the Western Conference Semifinals are facing off in the second round of the Western Conference Playoffs. The Nuggets find themselves in a place the franchise hasn’t been in a decade, the second round. It wasn’t a pretty series, but they now have the playoff experience that they lacked after going seven games and getting past the San Antonio Spurs. The Portland Trail Blazers are another team that is seeming to get hot at the right time. Damian Lillard is looking nearly unstoppable – watch his game five buzzer beater over Paul George to win the series against the Oklahoma City Thunder if you need an example. CJ McCollum is healthy and playing well. Those two playing well together is making them one of the most dangerous backcourt duos in the league today. These two teams are divisional rivals and always play competitive and spirited games every time the two teams are on the court. Here’s what to expect in this matchup of the Western Conference Semifinals.

First Round Playoff Preview: #3 Portland Trail Blazers vs. #6 Oklahoma City Thunder

The West was more competitive than usual. The Blazers had a great season in which they found themselves as the third seed with a record of 53-29. It’s their second straight season as the three seed, but they won four more games this year than they did in the 2017-18 season. The Oklahoma City Thunder won 49 games which placed them sixth in the conference. During the 2017-2018 season, the Thunder won one less game but were fourth in the West. Clearly, the Western Conference teams were even better than usual this season. Here’s what you can expect from each team in this series.

Introducing Your 2019 Western Conference All-Stars

As a basketball fan, I’ve always found the NBA All-Star Weekend to be one of the more interesting times of the year. It allows me to watch the top talents of the league play without putting me in a position to seriously root for or against either team. It puts all of the league’s best players in a one-game situation where it’s the best of the best against the best of the best. It immortalizes otherwise-forgotten players such as Jason Kapono and Jeremy Evans through the Three-Point Contest and the Slam Dunk Contest. But perhaps the most important thing it does is recognize, in a semi-official capacity, who the best standout performers in the NBA are in any given season.

RECAP: Los Angeles Lakers vs Portland Trail Blazers

The Los Angeles Lakers were ready to start the regular season, while the Portland Trail Blazers were ready to let last year’s playoff failures go and start fresh. It was the season opener for both teams with high ambitions. The way this game was played out was very entertaining and high octane.
