The NBA trade deadline is just around the corner and the rumor machine is on fire. While most teams won’t make a deal, each will consider many options between now and the February 7th deadline. The NBA trade deadline is vastly approaching on Thursday so teams are scrambling to trade some of their players for good value. Kristaps Porzingis has been frustrated with the New York Knicks since last season as he decided not to attend the exit interview over a dispute with now former head coach Jeff Hornacek about the team’s direction and those concerns about the team seemed to resurface in a meeting with management yesterday.

We thought this season was already over. Prior to last night, the Golden State Warriors had looked unstoppable, going 13-1 in their last 14 games, and had been even more dominant (if that’s possible) than usual over the last month. Stephen Curry is a making a charge for MVP. Kevin Durant has been so unerringly consistent that the NBA world seems to have forgotten that he is having another sensational year. Klay Thompson can score 50 points while barely dribbling the basketball. They perhaps lacked a little depth and were vulnerable at center, but the small matter DeMarcus Cousins’ has solved that issue emphatically. In short, Golden State seemed a lock for the title.
Dennis Smith Jr. Returns, Mavs Top Clippers

After a drama-filled week for the Dallas Mavericks’ fans, Dennis Smith Jr. checked back in for the first time in five games last night against the Clippers. As few had predicited, DSJ didnt miss a beat in his return, going for 17 PTS, 8 REB, and 4 AST. Although reports have suggested tenison has been high in the locker room, Smith Jr. showed no evidence to validate those beliefs, orchestrating the Dallas offense with regularity. Head coach Rick Carlisle had high praise for the 21-year-old upon his return: ”I thought he was great, just really tremendous, and everything we needed: speed, attacking, shot-making, a couple of amazing assists,” Carlisle said. ”It has been tough for him, being away from his teammates, and he played one of his best games since he has been here.”

On Monday night, the Lakers and Mavericks took the court. This was a must-win game for the Lakers and they delivered the victory 107-97. The young core stepped up and helped right the ship for a Laker team that has struggled without LeBron James.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been awful without LeBron James and Rajon Rondo. If that wasn’t bad enough; Kyle Kuzma has been out for the past two games as well. They were not able to win a game last week.

This should be pretty easy as far as NBA games go for Golden State, as they enter one of their easiest weeks of the entire season following two very tough games against some top-flight competition.
