Saturday in the Ballpark: MLB DFS Picks for August 24, 2019

“Saturday in the park, I think it was the Fourth of July.” You’ve heard the popular song, sung by the group Chicago. If you haven’t, then skip this entire introduction and watch the video below. Now that we’re on the same page, I figured today would be a perfect time to lighten the mood. Last night was god awful for me. I was a Max Kepler home run that went just foul past the right field foul pole, away from cashing in all across the board. Instead, I wound up losing a decent chunk of money. Oh well. It happens. That’s the baseball DFS grind. And believe me, it is a grind. But there is no time to dwell on the past. Tonight looks like a fun slate to wipe the slate clean and get back to our winning ways. I remixed the song just for this slate. – “Saturday in the ballpark, it feels like the Fourth of July.” I’m expecting all of our home runs to be fair and fireworks to follow. On Monday, former Cleveland Cavaliers and current Olympiacos coach David Blatt revealed that he was suffering from a progressive neurologic condition called Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. This form of multiple sclerosis is one of four disease paths that have been identified in this disease. Blatt is not alone in the sports world to be suffering from this debilitating disease.

A nice and easy slate of games on hand for tonight. What makes DFS easy? Nothing. But we feel like it’s easier when there aren’t as many games being played. It helps us narrow down our research and eliminate overlooking good match-ups. With that said, you still never know what is going to happen. That is the beauty of sports. That is the beauty of baseball. Anything can and most likely will happen. But that shouldn’t stop us from trying to predict how the games will go. What Could Have Been: Diamondbacks Edition

While they are certainly overachieving this year, only being 1.5 games behind the Phillies for the second wild card, even after losing Patrick Corbin and A.J. Pollock to free agency, among others, and trading away Paul Goldschmidt, the Diamondbacks could have been great. They could have been serious World Series contenders for years.
