Happy Halloween everyone! The NFL trade deadline was Tuesday and several players got moved. One of the players moved was Kenyan Drake, who will play tonight for the Arizona Cardinals. Last week’s Thursday night game was boring and I expect tonight’s game to be similar. The Cardinals are coming off a 31-9 loss to the New Orleans Saints, while the San Francisco 49ers destroyed the Carolina Panthers 51-13. Even at home, the Cardinals are massive underdogs and this game will be hard to watch, so be smart and enjoy your Halloween doing something else.
Week nine is on the horizon and that’s the halfway point of the NFL season. I hope your IDP leagues are treating you well and the defensive side of the ball has been kind to you and your team. If they are carrying you to a playoff berth then keep up the work, if you’re struggling then it’s time to get on the ball and turn things around! Last week’s Thursday night game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos wasn’t much of a contest. Despite the Chiefs losing star quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the second quarter with a dislocated kneecap, the Broncos didn’t score after the opening drive and went on to lose 30-6. Hopefully, tonight’s game between the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings is more entertaining, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
I don’t know if it was just me, but week seven felt weird. Lots of stuff happened on the offensive side that you just can’t explain. Patrick Mahomes suffered a knee injury that had fantasy owners gasping for air like a punch to the gut. Though it seems he will only miss a few weeks. Alvin Kamara didn’t play and if you didn’t stash Latavius Murray, you felt the pain from that. Then the David Johnson debacle, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury came out after the game infuriating DJ owners saying he was only going to be used in “emergency” situations. So, Chase Edmonds had a career day while he sat on many benches like mine.
Well, week seven started with a bang and in a negative manner. With the Patrick Mahomes injury uncertainty that has left a lot of owners scrambling to find a win this week. We might be able to offer those answers in finding that win and to help fantasy football players with their roster construction, three of our writers have provided some insight on which players they would start, would sit, and consider a sleeper for week seven. Last week’s Thursday night game between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots was a closer game than many expected, at least till the fourth quarter. Eventually, the Patriots won 35-14 as the defense scored two touchdowns to match Tom Brady’s two rushing touchdowns. While the game wasn’t full of fantasy points, Golden Tate and Julian Edelman joined Brady and the Patriots D/ST as the only players to score more than 14 fantasy points in the game. Hopefully, tonight’s game offers more big-time fantasy scorers.
With week six in the books, a lot of IDP fantasy owners should start seeing who’s making an impact for their teams and who’s not. The heart of the bye weeks is amongst us, which means defense wins weeks and not just championships.

For the second week in a row, the Thursday night matchup was an entertaining game. The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Los Angeles Rams 30-29 as Greg Zuerlein missed a game-winning 44-yard field goal with 11 seconds left in the game. The game was full of fantasy points for both teams and hopefully, we get another fantasy stuffed game tonight between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. However, I think this game will be boring and lack a lot of big-time fantasy scorers.
Week five was not nice to the IDP report last week. Whether it was injuries or underperformance not many guys came up big on defense this week that wasn’t in the top three tiers. It looked like Clay Matthews was off to a hot start, but a broken jaw put that to a halt. My sleeper Todd Davis had a good game and Eric Weddle had a busy day. Unfortunately, the rest of the gang for my special first quarter addition came up short. The IDP game can be a mean beast if your guys don’t get the consistency and snaps to make a play or get those points tallied.
