Thursday Night Football Week 9 DFS

We get another divisional battle on Thursday Night. The red hot San Francisco 49ers go into Arizona to face the Cardinals. The 49ers are still undefeated at 7-0. The Cardinals are 3-4-1 under first-year coach Kliff Kingsbury. Here are my top players and game predictions for tonight’s game.

DraftKings Captain

Dante Pettis (4,800 DK Captain | 3,200 DK | 5,500 FD)

Pettis has not been what everyone thought he would be after his good five-game stretch to end the 2018 season. His snap percentage is still 50 percent so he is still a focus on the offense. Pettis was also very good in the slot last year. If he can get back to that he should be able to thrive against the Cardinals defensive backs who have struggled against slot receivers. His salary in the captain spot will save you money to be able to afford guys like Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle.

FanDuel MVP

George Kittle (9,200 DK & 13,500 FD)

It’s no secret that the Cardinals are bad at stopping tight ends. They have given up eight touchdowns in as many games. They give up an average of 22.1 DraftKings points and 17.7 FanDuel points to tight ends. Look for Kittle to put up monster numbers as the Cardinals will continue to struggle vs tight ends.

Flex Players

Kenyan Drake (6,800 DK & 11,500 FD)

Drake has only been with the Cardinals a few days after being traded on Monday. He went from a Miami Dolphins team that was limited on offense to a Cardinals team that averages nearly 100 more yards per game. Chase Edmonds has been ruled out and David Johnson is a game-time decision. This makes Drake the featured back where he should see plenty of volume if Johnson is out. However, Drake might struggle to get it going in the running game against one of the best run defenses in the NFL. I still expect him to be a big part of the passing attack that has targeted Johnson and Edmonds 60 times through eight games.

Jimmy Garoppolo (10,400 DK & 15,500 FD)

Garoppolo has not thrown for more than 300 yards in any game this year. He has also not attempted more than 33 passes in one game all year. His stats will finally breakthrough in this game. He faces a Cardinals defense that has given up an average of 277 passing yards per game this year.

Robbie Gould (3,800 DK & 9,500 FD)

Last time I picked Gould in a primetime game he struggled against the Cleveland Browns. He missed three field goals in that game and has actually been pretty inaccurate all year. He has made 86 percent of field goals in his career and this year is only kicking 65 percent. I like him to turn that around in this game and successfully kick a couple through the uprights.

Game Predictions

This game will be a little closer early in the game than many people think. The air raid offense should succeed early as long as the offensive line for the Cardinals can give Kyler Murray some time in the pocket. Ultimately I think the 49ers defense will flex its muscles and force Murray into some mistakes. I like the 49ers in this matchup by a score of 33-17.

Player Predictions

Pettis: five receptions for 74 yards and one touchdown

Kittle: 112 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Drake: 76 total scrimmage yards and one touchdown.

Garoppolo: 317 passing yards and three passing touchdowns

Gould: 3/3 on field goals and 3/3 on extra points.
