A Fisher and 10,000 Lakes (and Other Triste Tales About the Troubled Timberwolves)

Considering the start of the NBA’s existence was ushered in with complete dominance from the team representing the city of Minneapolis, there was bound to be a certain air of excitement emanating throughout the Twin Cities when it was announced that, after nearly thirty years of absence, professional basketball would be returning to the city that was once able to claim many of basketball’s biggest stars – George Mikan, Vern Mikkelsen, Elgin Baylor, Clyde Lovellette, and Slater Martin – as well as four of the first five NBA championships.

So, Trey Burke Was Just Drafted by the Pelicans’ G League Team…

The New Orleans Pelicans’ G League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks – not to be confused with the Atlanta Hawks’ G League affiliate from last year, the Erie BayHawks, who are now known as the College Park Skyhawks, or the Orlando Magic’s G League affiliate from three years ago and prior, the Erie BayHawks, who are now the Lakeland Magic – held their expansion draft yesterday, and it raised some questions when it was revealed that they selected Trey Burke.

The Unforeseen Consequence of DeMarcus Cousins’ Injury

I’ve always been a big fan of DeMarcus Cousins.

I understand that’s not a particularly universal opinion – his reputation has always one that takes into consideration supposed character problems and volatility.

But he’s an incredibly talented basketball player and incredibly passionate about what he does.

And that’s why his sequence of injuries ever since January 26, 2018, is so upsetting.

Breaking: David Randall Jenkins, World-Record Holding Powerlifter, Dies at 69

David Randall Jenkins was a competitive powerlifter for a grand total of eight months and twenty days. Which makes it all the more impressive that on Monday, July 14, Jenkins etched his name into the sport’s world record books for the third time. Three days later, he unexpectedly passed away, leaving behind a legacy that far outweighs the limited results that come up when you google his name.

BIG3 Releases Four Former NBA Stars, Fines "Big Baby"

arly yesterday evening, the BIG3 sent out a press release. There was always expected to be one in the wake of the incident Glen Davis was involved in last weekend, announcing his punishment, or at the very least a warning.

But while the press release did announce a serious fine, misspelling his name and humorously referring to him by his derogatory nickname of “Big Baby” whilst doing so, that wasn’t the headline. The main story is that they were releasing, or in their terms, “deactivating”, four former NBA players, two of whom were all-stars.

BREAKING NEWS: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers

Early this morning, it was confirmed by Adrian Wojnarowski that Kawhi Leonard has chosen to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, spurning the rival Los Angeles Lakers and the defending champion Toronto Raptors. Later that same minute, Wojnarowski reported that the Oklahoma City Thunder are trading Paul George to L.A. for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, five first-round picks, and swap rights for two other draft picks.

The Scorecrow will have further information and analysis provided later today, courtesy of our very own Mike Fanelli.

The Lone Raptor

The Toronto Raptors are just one game away from potentially being NBA Champions, and that’s great news for basketball. Whenever a new team takes over the reins of the league (which, don’t get me wrong, is still far from a guarantee still), it is, but now it’s a whole new country.

Memphis Fails to Attract Šaras

Despite their head coaching job opening up on the last day of the season when the Memphis Grizzlies’ front office decided it was time to part ways with J.B. Bickerstaff, Memphis finds themselves as the only team yet to make a hiring decision. It’s now been a full three weeks since the hirings of John Beilein and Frank Vogel, by Cleveland and Los Angeles respectively, and the Grizzlies still haven’t made any clear decisions on the direction they want to go, but one potential option seems to have disappeared for them, and it’s not necessarily of their own volition.
