Colorado’s Woes Continue, Defense is Brutal for the Avs

The Colorado Avalanche were one of the top stories last season. After having just 48 points in a miserable 2016-2017 season, the Avs bounced back with making the playoffs last spring. In the post-season, Colorado took it to heavy favorites Nashville Predators, but they fell short in Game 6 loss at the Pepsi Center in Denver when the Preds closed out the series with a resounding 4-0 victory.

Is LeBron James More Than An Athlete?

In the past, I’ve heard people debating this when it was a hot topic. Is LeBron James really more than an athlete or not? About a year ago, ESPN broadcast journalist, Carry Champion interviewed LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Carry Champion told LeBron “you’re talking about hate and crime, we are at a watershed moment in this country and we cannot deny that we are very divided especially in the political arena. How do you describe the climate for an athlete with the platform nowadays that want to talk about what’s happening in our world?” LeBron went on to say the President is “someone who doesn’t understand the people—and really don’t give a [****] about the people.”

The Emergence of the Sacramento Kings

Last season, the Sacramento Kings drafted Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox. He was my favorite player from the draft. However, it was not the best of seasons for Fox or the Kings. It was understandable because they were a young team and did not have many veterans to mentor them. They finished last season 27-55. It was a disappointing season but there is a lot of potential on this team. Fox averaged just 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1 steals, 0.3 blocks, and 2.4 turnovers per game, on .412 FG%. Some people started calling Fox a bust and saying he is not the real deal, he’s overhyped, etc. But I knew that Fox would definitely come back better than ever and put the league on notice.

The Nets’ Present May be as Bright as their Future

IIn August of last year, I spoke to Joe Harris of the Brooklyn Nets about his aspirations for both himself and his team ahead of the upcoming NBA season. The then 26-year-old was reluctant to reveal exactly how far he believed the team could go, but he assured me that they had “a lot of reasons to be optimistic”. Three weeks into 2019, with over half of the regular season complete, that could be a serious understatement.
