Where do I start?
Ever since I was a young girl I was into sports thanks to my lovely brothers. I can recall watching Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, and New York Giants games with my siblings.
We each had a favorite team.
My twin brother preferred the St. Louis Rams and my sister the New York Giants. It was a family affair indeed.
Reminiscing back, it was one of the best memories I had as a child watching the American Football league.
Dallas Cowboys
I can recall watching Emmitt Smith and Troy Aikman play on Monday Night Football like it was yesterday. The best duo in the history of the league. My favorite player on the Cowboys was Michael Irvin with his flashy moves and plays. The Cowboys were unstoppable in the early 1990s. They set records as a team and as individuals. Aikman became the first Dallas rookie to start a season opener in 1989.
The Cowboys won five Super Bowl championships in 1972, 1978, 1993, 1994, and 1996. The ’90s era was one of the best to witness as a spectator. For the Cowboys to win back-to-back Super Bowls was extraordinary to watch as a fan. We cannot forget the year of 1995, when Jerry Jones acquired a special and unique athlete by the name of Deion Sanders, who would be one of the best cornerbacks in the history of the league. However, everything spiraled after the 1996 season. The Cowboys went downhill from there.
San Franciso 49ers
What can I talk about when it comes to the San Franciso 49ers 1990s era? It was an unbelievable time to be a football fan. The NFL was filled with super-star players that care about their team and played to entertain the fans. Nothing compared to today’s league. The early ’90s was a battle between the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. It was incredible to have not just the greatest wide receiver in the league with Jerry Rice, but also have Steve Young as his quarterback.
The 49ers have also won five Super Bowls. Those championships came in 1982, 1985, 1989, 1990, and 1995. Above all, the 49ers had a future legend quarterback in the ’90s with the one and only Joe Montana under center. Unfortunately, injuries took a toll in Montana and he had to miss two consecutive seasons with a recurring elbow injury.
In conclusion, I am thrilled I grew up watching American Football in the ’90s and witness incredible plays, teams, and championships that were unforgettable to this day.
To be frank, it was one of the best times in American Football.
