Early Saturday morning, the Los Angeles Clippers signed Kawhi Leonard and pulled off a trade for Paul George In a move to acquire George, the Clippers gave up Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, four unprotected first rounders, a protected first rounder, plus two pick swaps. That’s a lot to give up, but if you have a chance to land Leonard and George, you do it.
July 5th, 2019 will go down as one of the wildest days for the state of California in history. Coming off its second earthquake in as many days, the NBA’s prime summer league game between Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans verse R.J. Barrett and the New York Knicks was stopped and ultimately suspended because of safety concerns due to the earthquake. Who would have guessed an earthquake stopping a Las Vegas summer league would have been only the third biggest NBA story of the day!
This morning, fans of the Oklahoma City Thunder are experiencing the aftermath of yet another 4th of July weekend announcement involving their team. They’ve awakened to the news of a trade that sent Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers.
On the Bill Simmons podcast, Ryen Russillo said Thunder general manager, Sam Presti could trade Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers.
For a third consecutive season, OKC failed to win a best of 7 series in the playoffs. Despite an expensive tax luxury payment, Sam Presti, General Manager of the Oklahoma City Thunder, has failed to derive the championship formula – or even a series winning formula for that matter.
We keep waiting for the post-Kevin Durant Oklahoma City Thunder to become true contenders, but their hopes of a title are, if anything, dwindling by the year. And after a season which once promised so much, they find themselves on the brink of a third consecutive first round playoff exit. So, is this who OKC are?
The West was more competitive than usual. The Blazers had a great season in which they found themselves as the third seed with a record of 53-29. It’s their second straight season as the three seed, but they won four more games this year than they did in the 2017-18 season. The Oklahoma City Thunder won 49 games which placed them sixth in the conference. During the 2017-2018 season, the Thunder won one less game but were fourth in the West. Clearly, the Western Conference teams were even better than usual this season. Here’s what you can expect from each team in this series.
