The NHL All-Star Break is officially behind us. This means that the unofficial second half of the 2021 season is underway.
We are now one-third of the way through the 2021 NHL Season. There has been no shortage of storylines throughout the league early on.
The Pittsburgh Penguins finished first in their division last season. However, they sadly lost to the New York Islanders in the first round.
The Pittsburgh Penguins went into the 2021 NHL Draft with five total picks. However, they had no first-round selection, and three of their picks came in the seventh round.
It’s the same story for the New York Islanders but in a different year. The playoffs are starting, and the team is being doubted by everyone. It also feels more warranted this year. It’s been an interesting week for the New York Rangers organization. Chaos reigned over the beginning of the week with the news that Tony DeAngelo had been placed on waivers.
If you were thinking, “Hey, it’s great that Rangers hockey is back, even the pandemic couldn’t stop it!” you are not alone. However, it seems that even into the third week of games, the Rangers still think they’re trapped in the bubble of last season’s playoffs.
As the second week of hockey comes to an end, things aren’t looking too great for the New York Rangers. Their record stands at 1-3, and they currently stand at three points overall, which makes them tied for last in the Massmutual East Division with the Buffalo Sabres. Despite playing much better in this week’s games and having more shots on goal than their opponents, the Rangers came up short both times, losing by one goal to both the New Jersey Devils and the Pittsburg Penguins.
