Despite missing the playoffs and finishing the 2017 season 9-7, expectations were high for the Chargers and they certainly met them. In 2018, the offense and defense both clicked which culminated in a 12-4 finish and seven Pro Bowlers. Despite losing in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, and the ongoing contract saga of Melvin Gordon (more on that later) expectations for 2019 in Los Angeles are now even higher with talk of possibly even reaching the Franchise’s first Super Bowl since 1994.
The Pittsburgh Steelers came out of the gate relatively fast (if you ignore that Browns tie), starting with a 7-2-1 record, despite the holdout of Le’Veon Bell. They exerted some pure dominance against Carolina at home and wore down a tough Jacksonville defense. After a few head-scratchers against the AFC West, they managed to beat back New England to stay on track for a playoff run. A close loss to a very good New Orleans team coupled with Antonio Brown giving up on the team going into Week 17 buried them, and they limped to a 9-6-1 final record, missing the playoffs.

To the average viewer, the preseason seems pointless. To the organizations and diehard fans though, the preseason is paramount. The four games serve as a chance for young and old players to prove that they belong on a team, whether it be the one they play on during the preseason or another team that noticed their talent. Many players’ hopes of playing in the NFL can come crashing down after the fourth game when cuts are made while some players take advantage of the playing time that they are given and make an NFL roster. Every week I will be highlighting some players that have taken the time given to prove that they belong. This week’s article details some players that impressed during the Hall of Fame game on Thursday.
The Buccaneers 2018 season was a roller coaster, to say the least. Jameis Winston started the season suspended so Ryan Fitzpatrick opened the season as the starter. Then, “fitzmagic” happened. They opened the season 2-0 after wins against New Orleans and the then Super Bowl champion Eagles. Once Winston returned, he and Fitzpatrick each traded off the starting role multiple times. After the impressive start, the team stumbled its way to a 5-11 finish, missing the playoffs for the tenth straight year, resulting in the firing of coach Dirk Koetter. Koetter’s replacement is former Cardinals coach Bruce Arians, who has the difficult task of taking this team from the NFC cellar to super bowl contenders.
2018 was a better year than most Seahawks fans probably anticipated. The team set out to run the ball more, and that was exactly what they did by leading the NFL in rushing yards per game with an average of 160 yards. With a much-improved run game, the team didn’t have to rely on Russell Wilson trying to make a play every down behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league. The Seahawks finished the season 10-6, making it their seventh straight winning season and their sixth playoff appearance in that same time frame. While they lost a heart-breaker against the Dallas Cowboys 24-22 in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, it’s hard to be upset when your team overperforms during the regular season.
Now that we have established which players you should target for your dynasty league as buy lows, we need to identify the players to put on your trade block. Capitalizing on maximum value due to unsustainable production is the name of the game when it comes to sell high candidates. Let’s take a look at those who you should be shopping.
The 2018 season was a substantial disappointment in Jon Gruden’s return to the Silver & Black. They stumbled to a 4-12 mark with a few brights spots in an otherwise dismal campaign. Now the calendar has turned and 2019 is a chance to make up for all the wrongs made at the beginning of Gruden’s second tenure as the head man. It also appears to be the final goodbye in Oakland with the move to Las Vegas looming in 2020.
The Los Angeles Rams have their full artillery back in effect going into this season which is trouble for opposing teams. The return of wide-receiver Cooper Kupp gives the Rams a weapon they did not have for the majority of last year.
