Let’s take a look at their season and what they need to do to take the next step to the big game in 2019.
The Los Angeles Chargers finished last season with a 12-4 record. Injuries caught up to the Chargers yet again, Jason Verrett and Hunter Henry were both out during the regular season. Denzel Perryman went down mid-season, Brandon Mebane had terrible news. His newborn child passed away, which forced him to miss a few games, and that was completely understandable. But, the Chargers were able to find the next man up every time. Derwin James can easily be a franchise player; Chargers have great young talent to build on, including veterans who can lead them to a possible Super Bowl run, led by Philip Rivers.
Coming into 2018, the Panthers were three years removed from their Super Bowl loss to the Broncos. They made the playoffs last season but were defeated by the Saints in a great game. There was so much promise going into this season. For a while, it looked like the Panthers could be a contender for the Super Bowl. They ended up missing the playoffs and now their star quarterback has a potentially serious injury.

Only 14% of teams that end the first quarter of the season 1-3 have made the playoffs since 1990, so Atlanta knew the odds were against them and they would have to turn things around.
