NBA Power Rankings: Where Does Your Team Stand?
As the NBA season gets ready to begin, there will finally be a different ending. Sorry Cleveland Cavalier fans. No

Relevancy has really been an issue for one of the most storied franchises ever in sports because the Los Angeles Lakers have failed to make the playoffs for the last five years and last season was no different. The organizational turmoil was finally over as Jeanie Buss took over and hired Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka. Now they have LeBron. Will it be enough to get the Lakers back to being the standard?
The 2018 season ended earlier than the Miami Heat would have hoped. After going 44-38 and earning the 6th seed in the playoffs Coach Erik Spoelstra’s team was only able to win one game in the playoffs before falling to the Philadelphia 76ers. The Heat were still able to win the Southeast division last year. This season the Heat are hoping to not only win more games but more importantly win them when they count in the playoffs. As if they needed any additional motivation, this is the last dance for the future first-ballot hall-of- famer Dwyane Wade.
The Houston Rockets have certainly presented themselves as one of the best teams in the NBA. With a heartbreaking defeat in last season’s Western Conference Finals, will the Rockets return to their glory and perhaps make the Finals?
The Sacramento Kings were 12th in the Western Conference last season going 27-55. Will they improve enough to make the playoffs this year? Or will it be another year of tanking?
After an extremely successful season, despite injuries to key players, the Celtics are looking to take their success to the next level and challenge the Warriors in the NBA Finals in 2019. Can the young, but experienced Celtics win the chip?
The Orlando Magic haven’t been able to make the NBA playoffs in six seasons and that streak is unlikely to be broken this upcoming season. But not all is doom in the happiest place on earth with a new head coach and young core of talent. The future is looking magical for this team.
The Dallas Mavericks have dropped to a below average team since their championship victory in 2011. Their once star players have either left or gotten too old and it’s obvious that the Mavericks need a new, younger core to their team. Through seasons of tanking, the Mavericks now have a bright future. Will the Mavericks take advantage of their new assets? Can Dallas compete in an extremely competitive Western Conference this season?
To say the Detroit Pistons had an up-and-down season would be an understatement. One word to describe the Pistons over the last season would be ‘change’. They have changed coaches and players with hopes to get back in the playoff picture. Out is head coach and President of Basketball Operation Stan Van Gundy and in is the reigning NBA Coach of the Year in Dwane Casey who was let go by the Toronto Raptors.
The Memphis Grizzlies have had a rough time in the Western Conference in recent years. Plagued by injuries this past season, the Grizzlies are looking to come into this next season fighting in an already voracious Western Conference. Can the Grizzlies improve in the West? Can fans expect another season of tanking and poor performance?
The Washington Wizards finished as the 8th seed last year. Will John Wall be able to bring them to a higher spot this year in a wide-open Eastern Conference?
After missing out on the playoffs by the smallest of margins last year, the Denver Nuggets will be determined to make the playoffs this time around, but just how far can this young team go?
