Reaction to Heat vs Celtics
Here are my four takeaways from the Miami Heat’s 107-99 loss to the Boston Celtics.

Here are my four takeaways from the Miami Heat’s 107-99 loss to the Boston Celtics.

As the 2018-19 NBA season chugs along through early 2019, the possible seeding for this season’s playoff action is starting

The Los Angeles Lakers entered Saturday’s contest against the Houston Rockets without star player LeBron James and backup point guard Rajon Rondo. Both players have been cleared to return to practice starting Monday and the timing could not be better with starting point guard Lonzo Ball suffering a sprained ankle in the third quarter against Houston. Ball is expected to miss the next 6 weeks making his potential return sometime in early March.

The Los Angeles Lakers had a good week last week. It could have been a better week but I will get into that later on. The Lakers started off last week hosting the Chicago Bulls, before heading west to face the Oklahoma City Thunder and then the Houston Rockets.
I know what you’re thinking: Dear Lord, make this debate stop! Truly, this is one of those arguments that is a vicious cycle and one that will never die. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a correct answer; let’s assume the 1996 Chicago Bulls and present-day Golden State Warriors are playing in the Finals, and check out how these teams stack up player-by-player.

The Boston Celtics are coming off a pretty good 3-1 week. Their only loss came to the up and coming young Brooklyn Nets team; Kyrie Irving and Marcus Smart were out, but they still should’ve won. They played isolation ball and took too many contested threes; they started to play well too late in the game and came up short.

A week defined by blowouts. There were 4 games on the slate for this week, all at home and the Denver Nuggets went 3-1. Key performances came from Jamal Murray, Malik Beasley, and Paul Millsap brought huge lifts to the team. The MVP of the week, however, has to go to none other than Nikola Jokic. He averaged 23.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game. Here is your recap of each game from this week.

The Boston Celtics defeated the Toronto Raptors who are the #1 seed in the East Conference on Wednesday night. The chemistry looked great all around, there was a lot of ball movement and less isolation basketball. Gordon Hayward is slowly becoming more consistent with his play, he dropped 18 points along with five assists and Kyrie Irving ran the show with 27 points and a career-high 18 assists.

Here are my four takeaways from the Miami Heat’s 117-103 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder were in action Thursday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena and it was a much more competitive game than expected. The Lakers were without LeBron James and Rajon Rondo but were able to come away with an overtime victory due to stellar shooting, solid bench-play, and impressive defense.

What an incredible story and ride for the 24-year-old Pascal Siakam, in his third season in the NBA after being a first-round pick (2016 Draft – Pick 27th) out of New Mexico State. After a solid career with the Aggies that saw him win WAC Freshman of the Year and then, the following season, win WAC Player of the Year before he decided to forgo his last two years and enter the NBA draft. His rookie season in the league was all over the place to me as he saw action in 55 games total and actually started 38 games that saw him average 4ppg. But he also saw a lot of playing time with the Raptors’ G-League affiliate Raptors 905 where they won the then D-League Champion with Pascal being named the Finals MVP in the process.

In my three-part series on Basketball throughout the world, I will take a look at all FIBA-recognized countries and the best players from those countries. In part one we looked at 101-213. Here are numbers 51-100 as we continue our countdown. Most of these players you still don’t know, although this time there are a few that may be recognizable, and many of them will never see the inside of an NBA gym but the game is spreading and has truly become global and…well…ya never know. Stay tuned for the top 50 coming next week.
