When the Red Sox signed Kevin Plawecki before the 2020 season, he was not known for his offense. Over the past two years, however, that has not been the case. Through 63 games with Boston, he has been an on-base machine. While the Red Sox have struggled of late, Plawecki has been a bright spot. As the 2021 season winds down, the Red Sox will need the Purdue product to continue his current production.

In the third round of the 2020 MLB draft, the Red Sox selected Blaze Jordan. The Mississippi native was one of the youngest players in the draft but brought elite power. In his first full professional season, he has lived up to expectations. The eighteen-year-old appeared in 19 games in the FGL and was an on-base machine. Earlier this week, Jordan was promoted to Low-A-Salem. With his new team, Jordan will be looking to continue his scorching hot start.
After a whirlwind Friday where trades were flying, it’s time to wrap up an exciting Trade Deadline. Today, we take a look at the teams of the AL Central. We will analyze each team’s moves, and determine their deadline grade. Let’s get started.
The 2021 MLB Trade Deadline was franchise-defining. A total of 10 All-Stars from the most recent spectacle in Denver were traded a league record. Some sold and some bought, but either way, there are a number of teams in baseball who will look mightily different in the second half of the campaign.
While the reporters were observing pregame warmups, there was an odd site in Seattle prior to the game between the Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners. Astros’ infielder Abraham Toro was having a catch in a Mariners uniform with Mariners catcher Luis Torrens. That prompted the reporters to start digging.
The All-Star Game isn’t exactly the halfway point in the season (most teams have played close to 90 games at this point) but it’s a logical stopping point to access which players are dominating. I did this exercise at the quarter-point in the season, it’s interesting to see how things have changed (or not) since then. As the season goes on, we’ll do this again at the three quarters through the year and then at the end of the season. A Rookie of the Year category has been added for this checkpoint and will be included in the two editions later in the season.
The Babe Ruth comparisons continued as the Angels Shohei Ohtani arrived in Denver for the 2021 All-Star festivities. The two-way sensation is not Ruth. There will never be another Babe Ruth. However, in many ways, he may be something better. He’s ShowTime! Something needed in today’s often cynical sports world.
