On Tuesday the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to trade rookie Svi Mykhailiuk and a 2021 second-round pick to the Detroit Pistons for Reggie Bullock.

The Lakers had another shaky week, going 1-2 with losses coming to the Sixers and Warriors. LeBron James returned on Thursday against the Clippers for the Battle of LA; Lakers were able to win that game. Now that LeBron is back, Lakers should be back to their winning ways.
Should Luke Walton be Fired?

I have heard people discussing if Luke Walton should be fired and Mark Jackson or Jason Kidd hired to coach the Los Angeles Lakers. Let me start by saying this, the only coach who doesn’t have a coaching job in the NBA now, that should be considered to take over Luke Walton’s job, is Stan Van Gundy. The reason why I believe Van Gundy should have a job as a coach is that in the twelve seasons he was a coach, he had a 523-384 record, and he is born in California. So what better than to coach a team you grew up watching and hearing about constantly?
LeBron Returns; Lakers Beat Clippers

The latest entry in the Lakers-Clippers rivalry was an exciting one. Though this was a back and forth game for much of the first half, the Lakers began pulling away in the third quarter. The Lakers would jump out to a 14-point lead thanks to a three-pointer from Lance Stephenson with 45 seconds in the period. Montrezl Harrell would cut the Lakers lead to 12 off of a layup for the final points of the third quarter.

The NBA trade deadline is just around the corner and the rumor machine is on fire. While most teams won’t make a deal, each will consider many options between now and the February 7th deadline. The Los Angeles Lakers had another gruesome week. They went 1-2 last week, the one win coming on Sunday against the Phoenix Suns. Good news and bad news for the Lakers. The good news was that Rajon Rondo returned to action; however, Kyle Kuzma did not play on Thursday or Sunday due to a hip injury.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Memphis Grizzlies are finally ready to put the “Grit and Grind” era behind them, having reportedly made it clear to other teams throughout the NBA that they are actively listening to offers for their two star players, Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, both of whom have spent their entire decade-plus-long NBA careers in Memphis.

Yesterday, the Carmelo Anthony drama finally came to an end (for now) as the Houston Rockets traded Anthony and cash to the Chicago Bulls. Anthony hasn’t played a game since November 11th and the Rockets have been trying to trade him for months.

The Lakers and Rockets squared off, each squad missing key pieces. The Lakers are still without LeBron James and Rajon Rondo while the Rockets are still without Clint Capela and Chris Paul. The Lakers would eventually lose Lonzo Ball. Lonzo would roll his ankle in the third quarter; he did not return to the game.
