The calendar has flipped over to September, the kids are back to school and summer days are about to turn into crisp, cooler days. Heck, I kinda like it as I was just out for some tennis and felt like the coolness gave me some extra energy. This, of course, has nothing to do with what brings you, the reader, here. Let’s dig into this somewhat un-inspiring eight-game nightcap before I start talking about the weather again. It’s safe to say the blockbuster offseason trade for the Reds has not worked out. Matt Kemp is gone, Yasiel Puig is likely to be traded, Kyle Farmer has not produced, and Alex Wood just got onto the field this year.
Plenty of games with run totals hovering around ten and eleven Friday. Ideally some exposure to Yankees and Red Sox bats is a good strategy to take but the high prices make it difficult to fit them in. The Cardinals and Twins, amongst others, offer up some interesting pivot plays to make room for pitching.
