Clippers Media Day Interviews Full Transcript

The NBA season is less than a month away and after all the offseason craziness everyone is itching to see how some of the new-look teams will fare. The Los Angeles Clippers held Media Day for the press yesterday to showcase some of their new players in Clipper threads especially big free agent signings Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The players talked to the media in pairs yesterday here’s what some of them said.

Is it too farfetched to put all your faith in Kawhi “Fun Guy” Leonard to bring the Los Angeles Clippers their first NBA championship? After all, he was one more errant bounce away in his final shot from losing the series against the Philadelphia 76ers and this wasn’t even the Eastern Conference Finals. I heard many different people say during his free agency that wherever Kawhi goes, a championship will follow but is that fair? Is it fair to put all your eggs in one basket?

Can the Clippers Make the Playoffs?

The Los Angeles Clippers are currently sitting in 8th place in the Western Conference. Clippers are 5-5 in their last ten games. After trading Tobias Harris, many people thought Clippers would tank and look forward to next season with a higher draft pick, two max roster slots, possibly landing the likes of Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant. But, with the team, they have now, led by Lou Williams, alongside Danilo Gallinari, Montrezl Harrell, and Patrick Beverly, the Clippers can still compete and be the dark horse team that makes the playoffs as the 8th seed.

The Lakers and Rockets squared off, each squad missing key pieces. The Lakers are still without LeBron James and Rajon Rondo while the Rockets are still without Clint Capela and Chris Paul. The Lakers would eventually lose Lonzo Ball. Lonzo would roll his ankle in the third quarter; he did not return to the game.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder were in action Thursday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena and it was a much more competitive game than expected. The Lakers were without LeBron James and Rajon Rondo but were able to come away with an overtime victory due to stellar shooting, solid bench-play, and impressive defense.

Lakers Preview 1/14-1/20

The Los Angeles Lakers started last week off on a strong note, defeating the Mavericks in Dallas, 107-97. Then they defeated the Detroit Pistons in LA, 113-100, with Kyle Kuzma scoring 41 points in 29 minutes. They hit a roadblock in Utah, losing that game, 113-95. On Sunday night, they hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers; this game should have been a win, but, the Lakers lost this game, 101-95. They finished the week off with a 2-2 record. It should’ve very well been a 3-1 record after taking care of business in Dallas and against the Pistons.
