All professional sports governing authorities have established concussion protocols including criteria that must be met in order to return to participation. As we stumble through the dog days of the NFL offseason, we are reading constant team predictions and rumors about players and teams to hold onto every hope when football season returns soon. While it might seem like forever until the Atlanta Falcons play the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on September 6th, football is actually right around the corner. As early as next week most NFL teams will be at training camp. In fact, some teams such as the Ravens, who started July 18th, are already at camp. Heading into training camp there are many storylines you should follow. From what player is going to beat out another for the starting job to how are the rookies looking. Here are some of the top storylines entering training camp.
Let’s face it, whether it be Javid best, Theo Riddick or Ameer Abdullah, the Lions have not been able to find a running game since Barry Sanders left town. With Matthew Stafford behind center and an all-time great like Calvin Johnson out wide, this was masked in some sense. But now that Stafford is getting older, and Megatron is in the wind, the running game will become a more important component of the Detroit offense again. The player who the Lions are now counting on to give them a respectable running game is rookie Kerryon Johnson. The running back from Auburn who was the SEC offensive player of the year in 2017.
After failing to reach a long-term deal at yesterday’s franchise tag deadline, Le’Veon Bell’s time with the Steelers looks like it will end after this season. The Steelers have only a few options on what to do with one the best running backs in the NFL today.
One of the common expressions of the fantasy football offseason is “that guy is on my ‘do not draft list.’” And while some people stick to that list no matter what, there are others who stray from it. For those people that list isn’t a hard and fast rule. Rather, it’s a guideline for who to avoid at their current costs. In other words, it’s not really a “do not draft list.” It’s more of a “do not draft this player at their average draft position (ADP)” list. Sure it’s longer, but it’s a better way to approach fantasy football.
