The 2019 MLB season has come with a record number of home runs as well as a record number of strikeouts. However, many people forget the long plate appearances that this season is producing. With these long plate appearances come a record number of foul balls going into the stands.
At the start of the season, the Detroit Tigers had a glimmer of hope. With a rotation of Matt Moore, Michael Fulmer, Matt Boyd, Jordan Zimmermann, and Daniel Norris, the Tigers looked to improve upon their first season under Ron Gardenhire. However, the injury bug hit… and it hit hard. This bug depleted the rotation as well as the infield and has forced the Tigers and Al Avila into an ultimatum- time to sell and pick up prospects.
Moments after winning their 30th game of the season, the Tigers had someone to thank for it. His name, Nicholas Castellanos. Detroit’s outfielder hit a homer in the 10th inning to seal the victory and, well, not much more given the season the Tigers are in the middle of.
This year’s trade deadline should be eventful because of the abundance of talented pitchers available on the market, such as Matt Boyd, Marcus Stroman, Robbie Ray, Zack Wheeler, Madison Bumgarner, and Noah Syndergaard. There are a number of contending teams seeking to improve their starting rotations, including the Yankees, Phillies, Braves, Twins, Dodgers, and Astros. Let’s take a look at their top prospects who could be the centerpieces of a deadline acquisition.

Welcome back. It’s been a little over a week since I’ve last written a DFS article but hopefully, the winning hasn’t stopped for you. The All-Star break was much-needed for me personally, but I’m very excited to be back full force, ready to drop some knowledge that may help drop some dollars into our accounts. With that said, let’s get right into the Monday Money Plays and Stacks for tonight’s games.
While they are certainly overachieving this year, only being 1.5 games behind the Phillies for the second wild card, even after losing Patrick Corbin and A.J. Pollock to free agency, among others, and trading away Paul Goldschmidt, the Diamondbacks could have been great. They could have been serious World Series contenders for years. Yes, I will go that far. Even if they sneak into the playoffs this year, they probably won’t go very far.
So let’s look back at some of the major players the D-Backs traded away over the last ten years. The team could’ve been built for greatness if they held onto these pieces.
We are giving our team evaluations at the All-Star break. Here is the AL Central and how they have gotten to where they are and where they are going the rest of the season.

The 2019 All-Star Game provided a great lineup of things to do for fans anywhere from 10 to 100… and even the youngsters got a thrill out of the mascots there! While I was not credentialed to go to this event (I hope my writing can get to the right people at some point), I had a great time experiencing the nation focusing on one city and one event. Cleveland had a couple years to prepare for this and they knocked it out of the park. Of course, not everyone was satisfied, but that’s not realistic. Let me tell you what I got out of this great event.
Happy Independence Day! What better way to spend your holiday than watching baseball and playing daily fantasy. Summer is just getting started and the mid-summer classic is just around the corner. By now we have a pretty good handle on who we can count on for production so let’s keep grinding out solid lineups. Put on the spikes kids, we’re going Around the Horn!
