This was not the start that the Atlanta Hawks had in mind coming off an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals last season. Atlanta is off to a 4-7 start and has looked like a below-average team through the early part of this season.
What a tale of two seasons it was last season for the Atlanta Hawks. After a tough start, the team fired head coach Lloyd Pierce and promoted former Indiana Pacers head coach Nate McMillan to head coach. After McMillan was promoted, the Hawks took off.
During the month of June, we will be ranking the top 10 NBA players at each position. These rankings will be based only on the 2020-21 regular season and will not include any injured players.
The Boston Celtics stood pat this trade deadline, after being reported in multiple rumors.
With the NBA trade deadline done and over with, the Atlanta Hawks came out swinging to improve their roster.
Clint N’Dumba Capela was born in Geneva, Switzerland. Capela’s parents are from Angola and Congo. Capela had a passion for soccer during his childhood. But, he was 6 feet 3 inches when he was 13-years-old, so his brother suggested for him to play basketball. He went to INSEP in Paris, France for high school.
This is a classic battle of offense versus defense. The Utah Jazz play a tough brand of basketball and force the opponent to work hard for 48 minutes. The Houston Rockets have claimed the third seed in the Western Conference thanks to James Harden’s historic season as he looks to become a back-to-back MVP.
Team Giannis led by as many as 19, but Damian Lillard and Kawhi Leonard brought Team LeBron back before Kevin Durant closed out the game with some crucial threes to give Team LeBron the win for the second straight year. The All-Star break is fun and meant for rest before the big stretch runs for the playoffs. Here’s where all the teams outside of the playoff picture rank so far this season.
The Lakers and Rockets squared off, each squad missing key pieces. The Lakers are still without LeBron James and Rajon Rondo while the Rockets are still without Clint Capela and Chris Paul. The Lakers would eventually lose Lonzo Ball. Lonzo would roll his ankle in the third quarter; he did not return to the game.
Back from the dead, the Houston Rockets have won 14 of their last 18 games and are currently the fourth seed in the Western Conference mainly because James Harden is playing like a mad man. During the winning streak, Harden is averaging 40.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 38.4 minutes per game while registering five 30 point triple-doubles. The Rockets have been killed by injuries recently and now rising star center Clint Capela is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a thumb injury.
The Houston Rockets have certainly presented themselves as one of the best teams in the NBA. With a heartbreaking defeat in last season’s Western Conference Finals, will the Rockets return to their glory and perhaps make the Finals?
