On Tuesday the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to trade rookie Svi Mykhailiuk and a 2021 second-round pick to the Detroit Pistons for Reggie Bullock.

TUESDAY NIGHT
The Los Angeles Clippers squared off against the Charlotte Hornets. Los Angeles would come away with the 117-115 victory thanks to a Tobias Harris buzzer beater. Harris would have 34 points while going 13-of-21 from the field as well as making six three-pointers.
Then, Tobias Harris got traded to Philadelphia…
What a season for the 8th year pro out of USC and current Orlando Magic big man Nikola Vucevic. Don’t get me wrong, Nikola has been more than a solid player during his career which shows by his production with career averages of 15ppg along with 10rpg. But, in particular this season, right before he is set to become a free agent, he has taken his game up another level by posting career highs of 20ppg, 12rpg & 4apg. His hard work has not only been noticed by me because just this past week he was named to his first NBA All-Star Game being selected as a reserve. The hard work that Vooch has put into his game was recognized this season as he has had a very solid career thus far. He has even expanded his game like many big men have had to do in today’s NBA to able to stay on the court and is shooting a career-high 37% from the three-point line this season. By adding a new dimension to his already impressive offensive package, he becomes harder to defend and game plan for and also more attractive to teams looking to add him either via trade or this off-season thru free agency. Winning is the only thing missing right now from his resume, and getting his team to a playoff appearance is the next step for him at this point in his career.
Hello, basketball fans! The ‘Rookie Report’ is a brand new weekly series covering the most impressive performances from rookie’s across the league. With the Rookie of the Year race cementing itself, I’m watching all the rookie action so you don’t have to.
With that being said, let’s dive right into this week’s Rookie Report…
The Lakers had another shaky week, going 1-2 with losses coming to the Sixers and Warriors. LeBron James returned on Thursday against the Clippers for the Battle of LA; Lakers were able to win that game. Now that LeBron is back, Lakers should be back to their winning ways.
It’s easy to forget that, just two short years ago, Avery Bradley was both the second option offensively for a contending team and one of the consensus best perimeter defenders in the world.
The Boston Celtics are coming off an undefeated week in which they went 4-0. Kyrie Irving has just been phenomenal and Jaylen Brown has really stepped up off the bench. Celtics have won 4 straight games.
I have heard people discussing if Luke Walton should be fired and Mark Jackson or Jason Kidd hired to coach the Los Angeles Lakers. Let me start by saying this, the only coach who doesn’t have a coaching job in the NBA now, that should be considered to take over Luke Walton’s job, is Stan Van Gundy. The reason why I believe Van Gundy should have a job as a coach is that in the twelve seasons he was a coach, he had a 523-384 record, and he is born in California. So what better than to coach a team you grew up watching and hearing about constantly?
What a journey it has been so far for first-year Pelicans player and fifth-year pro Julius Randle up until this point in his career. Julius came into the league after a very successful lone season at Kentucky where he posted 15 ppg and 10 rpg going all the way to the National Championship game before losing to UConn.
The NBA trade deadline is just around the corner and the rumor machine is on fire. While most teams won’t make a deal, each will consider many options between now and the February 7th deadline. In a six-part series, I will provide one trade each NBA team should consider making between now and the deadline. The Southwest division is last and here is a trade each team should make. Be sure to check out the previous parts on the Pacific Division, Northwest division, Southeast Division, Central Division, and Atlantic Division.
The NBA trade deadline is vastly approaching on Thursday so teams are scrambling to trade some of their players for good value. Kristaps Porzingis has been frustrated with the New York Knicks since last season as he decided not to attend the exit interview over a dispute with now former head coach Jeff Hornacek about the team’s direction and those concerns about the team seemed to resurface in a meeting with management yesterday.
Here are my four takeaways from the Miami Heat’s 95-88 loss to the Indiana Pacers
