Plenty of games on the docket for this full Thursday night in the NHL. All toll we have 10 games to pick from, my feature players are targeted from three games with high-event potential. Philadelphia at Chicago, Florida at Calgary and Buffalo at the New York Rangers. Let’s dig into it, let’s make some Ice Picks!
CORE MUST-HAVES⭐
James van Riemsdyk W PHI $5,600
At some point, van Riemsdyk has to breakthrough. He has been snake-bitten on the scoresheet all season as he is still pointless on the young season. Even without the goals and assists, van Riemsdyk is scoring DK points through other means, most notably, shots on goal. He has 30 over his last five, that’s pretty elite. The matchup tonight lends well, the Blackhawks allow 33.71 shots per game and if they are anything like last season they will continue to give up plenty of goals as well.
Mark Giordano D CGY $6,200
Giordano continues to be a reliable source of production at a reasonable price. His last five games have gone much like the rest of the season, a goal and three assists with 12 shots and 10 blocks. Giordano sets himself apart from other studs on the Flames with production coming from his peripherals, shots, and blocks. Giordano is averaging 12.6 DK points per game while Sean Monahan at $7,500 is averaging 9.0. Johnny Gaudreau at $7,400 is averaging 10.0. Keep playing Giordano until the goals start flowing for Monahan and Gaudreau.
Jeff Skinner W BUF $7,000
Skinner tends to be a bit of a streaky player. Lately, along with the whole team, the trend is upwards. Buffalo is 3-and-1 while scoring 13 goals in their last four games. Skinner has accounted for three goals and four points and 27 shots in his last five. Jack Eichel is another elite selection but he costs you $900 more while shooting the puck way less (13 in the last five). The Rangers are struggling going into this one with just a single point in their last four while giving up 16 goals.
VALUE PLAYS
Dominik Kubalik W CHI $4,100
Kubalik seems to find his way into the value section on the regular. He has been a very opportunistic player. Over his last five games, he has registered 18 shots, just two shy over team leader Patrick Kane. The season total of 27 shots leads the team which is very impressive considering he is averaging just 13 minutes of ice per game. Kubalik is a part of a depth line for the Hawks that have been controlling play on most nights. Sooner or later the minutes and point production will go up. The matchup here is nice as well for the Hawks. The Flyers have given 15 goals in their last four contests.
Denis Malgin C FLA $3,700
At $3.7 K we are getting a player who is averaging a very modest 10.4 DK pts per contest and has scored three and assisted on two others in his last five games. Last season Florida and Calgary each averaged three goals per game after two games head-to-head.
Casey Mittelstadt C BUF $3,500
Ice time has slowly been increasing and as a result, production is getting better(three goals and two assists in his last five games). Mittelstadt went through a stretch of six straight games without a point but has since regained form to what the Sabres expect. He is one of many pieces on this team that has plenty of upside.
