The ALDS is set for a star-studded matchup between the Cleveland Indians and the reigning World Series champions, the Houston Astros. This is a series in which the Astros are favored, but I see it going differently than others think.
The New York Yankees host the Oakland Athletics at 8PM ET tonight. While the Yankees set the major league record with 267 HRs, the A’s were no slouch clubbing 227. With a bullpen game likely in store from the A’s side, the Yankees throw Luis Severino who couldn’t get out of the first inning last year. This could be a slugfest.
This Yankees team is extremely talented but they just can’t get anything going. As a Yankees fan, it’s very frustrating because they have all the pieces to play well and be consistent but not everyone is showing up.
The right field position has been very weak for the Yankees since Aaron Judge went down with a broken wrist in late July, thanks to Jakob Junis. They’ve been rotating Shane Robinson, Neil Walker, and occasionally Giancarlo Stanton in right field when he isn’t playing the role of designated hitter.
At one point in the 2018 Major League Baseball Season, the New York Yankees were in contention for the division lead in the American League East. Now the Yankees sit ten games back of the Red Sox, which is their biggest deficit of the season. I, being a Yankee fan, have thought extensively about what the problem with the Yankees is lately, as well as why the Red Sox so good.
Aaron Judge was in the 1st inning of Thursday’s game when he was hit by a pitch. He was later removed from the game due to continued pain and swelling and underwent additional imaging which revealed a distal ulnar styloid chip fracture which was non-displaced. That was a mouthful just to type, let alone understand. What exactly is wrong you ask.
Yoenis Cespedes heel injury was not the news Mets fans wanted to hear. The outcome will be even less popular. Retrocalcaneal bursitis and Achilles tendon calcification is a difficult injury to recover from when it occurs on one foot but having it on both feet and requiring surgery on both feet at the same time is a very daunting injury to come back from.
