The World Series champions have gutted their once great system in order to build a death star. The Red Sox are relatively young, so they will still be winning games for a long time. They don’t have many holes that will raise eyebrows for their World Series defense in 2019. So what does their farm system actually look like? Who is left? Are there any players that will be winning games with the Red Sox soon? Let’s find out. Here are my top five prospects for the Boston Red Sox.
The Indians are a hard team to figure out. With their current roster, they have some great talent. Players like Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez, Corey Kluber, Trevor Bauer, and others you would think they should be the top team in the A.L. The 2018 season really was a confusing one.
The San Diego Padres have built up a very good minor league system. Let’s take a look at the Top-5 and when we can expect to see them.
The Phillies have made it no secret they’re willing to spend money this offseason and make a push towards a championship. They’ve been one of the busier teams in the off-season, signing David Robertson and Andre McCutchen, and trading for Jean Segura. In general, their counterparts in the NL East have been active as well: Mets traded for Robinson while signing Jed Lowrie and Wilson Ramos, the Braves signed Josh Donaldson, Brian McCann and re-sign Nick Markakis, while the Nationals signed Patrick Corbin, Anibal Sanchez and re-signed Jeremy Hellickson.
Continuing our series, let’s take a look at the NL Central champs from last year. The Milwaukee Brewers are obviously in win-now mode, but their starting pitching may be a little light. More on that in the Team Preview coming next month. For now, let’s dive into the top guys they have in their system. We may actually see a couple of them this season.
The Mets only have two prospects in the top 100. I feel bad for Mets fans because they’ve lost so much recently and haven’t gotten much in return, in terms of players or team success. In my opinion, Mets fans will be waiting a while for their franchise to be successful but I’ve been known to be wrong here and there.
The Detroit Tigers are coming off back to back 98-loss seasons. However, the future is beginning to look bright, as the club has the No.18 ranked farm system in the big leagues. Led by a plethora of pitchers and outfielders, the club is looking to move into the future on a positive note.
The Los Angeles Dodgers currently have 4 of their top prospects firmly solidified in MLB’s Top 100 Prospects List. The Dodgers farm system ranks as the 8th best in baseball, with at least 4 of their top prospects having the potential to make an impact in 2019. With a deep minor league bench, this team is stacked and should be competitive for years to come.
