Realmuto, and Jose Fernandez on the same team and have not been to the playoffs since they defeated the Yankees in the 2003 World Series. Side note, it’s pretty amazing that they have been to the playoffs twice in their existence, and won the world series both times.

I didn’t expect a lot from this team, to be honest, but it must be frustrating for Diamondbacks fans for their team to constantly be second or third in their division. In 2017, they finally made the playoffs (as a wildcard) for the first time since 2011, in which they lost in the divisional round to the Dodgers.
The Tampa Bay Rays are trending upward. After finishing 3rd in the AL East at 90-72 and Kevin Cash finishing 3rd in voting for Manager of the Year, the Rays are trying to show the world they are for real. But playing in one of the toughest divisions in baseball and having to face the Red Sox and the Yankees on a regular basis will keep this team humble and force them to be patient. But no matter the division, the Rays are putting together the pieces to be competitive for years to come.
