Could DeMarcus Cousins be the Heat’s Next Reclamation Project?

Last summer, DeMarcus Cousins gambled on himself by accepting the Golden State Warriors’ $5.3 million mid-level exception in hopes of receiving a big payday this summer. After missing most of this past regular season recovering from his Achilles injury, Cousins returned and played in 30 regular season games. While clearly not in all-star form, Cousins was serviceable as the fourth option on a star-studded Warriors team. During the regular season, he averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 25.7 minutes per game.

Matt Barnes: HEAT looking to pair up Jimmy Butler and Bradley Beal

It appears the Miami Heat will finally land a star by acquiring Jimmy Butler through a sign and trade. So far, the team will be sending guard Josh Richardson to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Heat will try to move Goran Dragic to a third team. Report: Jimmy Butler would ‘happily’ meet with Heat during free agency

As expected, Philadelphia 76ers guard Jimmy Butler will opt out of his $19.8M player-option for next season, as Chris Haynes reported earlier on Friday. He will join the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving as one of the top free agents on the market. According to Associated Press’ Tim Reynolds, once NBA Free Agency begins, Butler would gladly meet with the Miami Heat.
