Heat's Gabe Vincent Named G League Most Improved Player

Gabe Vincent, one of the Miami Heat‘s two-way players, was named the 2019-20 NBA G League Most Improved Player on Monday. In his second G League season, Vincent averaged 20.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 31 games. He also led the G League with 4.2 3-pointers per game and shot 40.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Vincent played 20 games with the Stockholm Kings this season and played very well.  His play got the attention of the Heat officials and they signed him on a two-way deal on Jan 8. To sign Vincent, the Heat released guard Daryl Macon. Vincent went on to play 11 games with the Heat G League affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce and six games with the Heat.

Since the end of the Big Three era, the Heat has done a great job with player development. Just take a look at Duncan Robinson and Derrick Jones Jr. Luke Vincent, Robinson, and Jones Jr. were on two-way contracts before becoming major contributors. Robinson has already broken the Heat’s single-season record for 3-pointers. Jones Jr has been anchoring the Heat’s 2-3 zone, which has caused problems for some teams.

Could Gabe Vincent be next?
