Analyzing Jets’ Signing of Breshad Perriman

Breshad Perriman has been bouncing around the league for the past years. He went through a tough knee injury in 2015 with the Ravens but still put up solid numbers in four seasons with them. Perriman has always been a solid receiver and one a team can rely on.

Reaching an Elite Level

Perriman really started to show that he deserves a good contract in 2019 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Due to a few injuries in the Bucs’ receiving core last year, Perriman got his chance to step up and help the team out. He did so in a big way with 36 total catches, 645 yards, six touchdowns, and an average of 17.9 yards per catch. This stud playmaker reminded everyone that he can be a starter on a lot of teams.

New Home in New York

The Jets signed Breshad Perriman to an $8 million deal, of which $6 million is guaranteed. He will replace Robby Anderson as one of the Jets’ top targets and will be a handy downfield threat. The Panthers signed Anderson to a two-year, $20 million deal. That gave the Jets the opportunity to be a bit cheaper and go out and get a good quality receiver.

Perriman and Jamison Crowder will work well together and be Sam Darnold’s best receivers. Crowder was the Jets’ top receiver in 2019 with 78 catches, 833 yards, and six touchdowns. Crowder did his best work in the slot position. With Perriman on the outside and Crowder in the slot, the Jets can be dangerous on offense.

How Perriman Will Impact Jets

This talented athlete will help the Jets by bringing in a lot of speed. His route-running is really strong and his cuts are sharp. Another thing that Jets fans should be excited about is the way he finished his season in Tampa last year; he has a ton of confidence and overall athletic ability.
