The Tennessee Titans are highly interested in re-signing cornerback and Wild Card game hero Logan Ryan. However, talks between the sides remain at a stalemate, as the Titans remain optimistic as they await a decision from free agent linebacker Jadeveon Clowney on whether he’s going to sign with them or accept a different offer.
As of the latest reports, Clowney has narrowed his decision down to the Titans and the New York Jets. This comes after talks between him and his former team, the Seahawks, have come to an end.
Tennessee’s top defensive need was pass rush, which they partially addressed with the signing of former Falcons linebacker Vic Beasley and their pursuit of Clowney, arguably the best remaining defensive free agent on the board. They proved serious about signing Clowney, too, after trading Pro Bowl defensive end Jurrell Casey to the Denver Broncos, freeing up about $10 million in cap space.
The teams’ secondary needs will likely be addressed after Clowney makes his decision, as the team will see what cap space remains.
After Ryan, the quality at cornerback of players available dips drastically, and general manager Jon Robinson is surely aware of that.
