Last night it was reported that Red Sox ace Chris Sale will sit out at least six weeks after receiving a plasma injection to help with some arm inflammation.
He visited Dr. James Andrews in Florida, where he will be reevaluated in six weeks.
After another up and down year, Sale owns a 6-11 record with a 4.40 era with 218 strikeouts. While some performances he was the lights out version that the Red Sox traded for, and other performances just never made sense.
It will be unknown if the left hander will pitch again in 2019, that will be up to the team to make a strong push for the wild card. They are currently six games back from the Tampa Bay Rays for the second wild card spot.
The team is currently riding a five-game winning streak. They take on the Phillies tonight for a two-game road stand.
