Boston Bruins’ goaltender Tuukka Rask was named the National Hockey League’s 1st star for the month of December, Tuesday.

Rask returned to the ice, after a two week hiatus in early December, to take back his position as lead goaltender. The result was nothing less. Since then, he’s been selected as a 2017 All-Star and has made his way to the top of the league by tying for 1st with nine wins and two shutouts. While boasting a .955 save percentage, the net-minder has carried Boston through 11 games, 10-0-1.

The Bruins have made the most out of the last 14 games, acquiring 22 points in the process. Rask let in a league record of only 25 goals throughout the month of December.

His teammates have been nothing but thankful for the Finland native’s impressive performance.

“We believe in him so much. You ask any guy on this team, we believe in Tuukka,”Bruins’ freshman Charlie McAvoy told NHL.com. “And it’s a little bit of us not playing as good as we should in front of him, allowing him to not get as many wins as he deserves.”

Rask’s ninth season with the Bruins has been a fruitful one, reaching a 13-8-3 record, a 2.13 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. After ending the year with his 40th career shutout in a 5-0 win against the Senators, he hopes for more success in 2018.
