The second full week of the NHL season is nearly complete. With action on a nightly basis, the red-hot Florida Panthers and the always stingy Carolina Hurricanes remain the only two unbeaten clubs.
The past three years have been a roller coaster of emotions for the young Las Vegas Golden Knights. They’ve made playoff appearances in all four seasons and came three victories short of hoisting the Stanley Cup in their inaugural season, losing to Ovechkin and the Capitals, four games to one.
In Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, the Dallas Stars were able to silence the Vegas offense. In Game 2, Las Vegas wrote a different script as they evened series at 1-1. Heading into the series Vegas had outshot the Vancouver Canucks 127- 54 in the second round’s final three games. After a scoreless first period, the Knights found their scoring touch in a flurry.

But the Golden Knights wasted a 3-1 series lead and squandered a 3-0, third-period advantage — conceding four goals in five minutes on their way to a (controversial but) severely disappointing overtime loss, ending Vegas’ sophomore year.
