The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to snap their 18-year-long playoff drought.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to snap their 18-year-long playoff drought.
The Tampa Bay Lightning should be chomping at the bit to get the 2021-2022 season underway. The Lightning are looking to make it three in a row, accomplishing a feat that hasn’t been done in the NHL since the 1980s.
The Tampa Bay Lightning played host to the Montreal Canadiens in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final Monday night. Looking to lock up their second straight championship, Jon Cooper’s group was able to draw first blood in dominating fashion.
The opening semifinal on Sunday between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Islanders is a best-of-7 rematch from the 2020 Eastern Conference final. Tampa Bay won that match in six games, going on to eventually win the Stanley Cup.
Last season, the Tampa Bay Lightning finished the regular season with an astounding 62-16-4 record to go along with 128 points-signifying one of the best single-season records in National Hockey League history. A week-and-a-half later, their season was over as the Bolts were swept in the first round in surprising (and convincing) fashion at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets sending shockwaves across the hockey world.
Happy weekend everyone, lot’s of high-profile games on this nine game evening slate. The Leafs and Habs renew their rivalry in Montreal, the surging Blue Jackets visit the Flyers, Calgary and Winnipeg meet up for an outdoor game for the Heritage Classic, and finally in perhaps the game of the night, the high-flying Nashville Predators visit last year’s President’s trophy winners, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Let’s dig into it and make some Ice Picks!
