Pete Alonso may be the Mets Best Homegrown Hitter since Wright or Reyes

Not too long ago Dominic Smith was a first-round draft pick by the New York Mets. In 2013 the Mets selected him 11th overall. In six seasons in the minors, Dom slashed .296/.361/.426.  He and the Mets both expected him to take over the first base job for the Mets on a daily basis. Then reality hit, Dom struggled, and the Mets were again left with a question mark for an everyday productive first baseman.

New York Mets Team Preview

The Mets are a very interesting team. They find themselves in a division that is shaping up to be a four-team, very competitive race. GM Brodie Van Wagenen has put together a roster that can compete, whether the rest of the baseball universe believes it or not. Van Wagenen is the former co-founder of Creative Artists Agency. He helped negotiate deals for Robinson Cano with the Mariners and Yoenis Cespedes with the Mets among others. What’s Brodie Done? A Lot So Far

For Mets fans, last year was not only dreadful but confusing at the same time. The team started out torrid, going 11-1 and then proceeded to have a dreadful stretch where the season was essentially over. Without any pressure on the team, the team finished the season 44-37 in their last 81 to bring them to 77-85 for the season. Even though the last 81 games were meaningless to the team, this stretch is somewhat an indication of the growth occurring in the organization.

The Philadelphia Phillies Land Realmuto for 3 Prospects and Int’l Money

The Phillies have made it no secret they’re willing to spend money this offseason and make a push towards a championship. They’ve been one of the busier teams in the off-season, signing David Robertson and Andre McCutchen, and trading for Jean Segura. In general, their counterparts in the NL East have been active as well: Mets traded for Robinson while signing Jed Lowrie and Wilson Ramos, the Braves signed Josh Donaldson, Brian McCann and re-sign Nick Markakis, while the Nationals signed Patrick Corbin, Anibal Sanchez and re-signed Jeremy Hellickson.

Top 5 Prospect series: New York Mets

The Mets only have two prospects in the top 100. I feel bad for Mets fans because they’ve lost so much recently and haven’t gotten much in return, in terms of players or team success. In my opinion, Mets fans will be waiting a while for their franchise to be successful but I’ve been known to be wrong here and there.

2019 Outfield Preview: The Next 25

We always talk about how deep the Outfield is, but if you were to construct your outfield from just this list of 25 players, you would be in great shape.  With the exception of a few, there are at least 8 of the first 12 players on this list that have tremendous upside and could far exceed their draft value. And 11 of the 12 can be had outside the Top 100.  There is tremendous value in the later rounds for the Outfield Position this year. And you may not have to pay up for a stud:
