Welcome back to part two of my “Players who are likely to break out in 2019” series. For this article, I will be giving one player for each team that I think will have a breakout season. Prospects Series: Houston Astros

For years the Astros were the punching bag of the MLB. Then the farm system graduated up to the majors. George Springer, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, and many others helped the Astros become one of the best teams in baseball, and 2017 World Series champions. As a franchise, the Orioles have only two contracts greater than $10 million on their payroll currently: Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo. As the team is moving into the next wave of future talent, team brass and fans alike should be excited for the future of the franchise.

The Philadelphia Phillies Farm System is the 8th best minor league system in all of baseball.  Headlined by (2) Tier 1 and (2) Tier 2 prospects along with one of the strongest off-seasons in recent memory, the future is bright in Philly and their fan base has hope again.  (PS – I started writing this before the JT Realmuto trade and Sixto Sanchez was the Phillies top prospect at that time. If you would like to read about Sixto Sanchez, and you should, he is the last prospect on this list).

Top-5 Prospect Series: Boston Red Sox

The World Series champions have gutted their once great system in order to build a death star. The Red Sox are relatively young, so they will still be winning games for a long time. They don’t have many holes that will raise eyebrows for their World Series defense in 2019. So what does their farm system actually look like? Who is left? Are there any players that will be winning games with the Red Sox soon? Let’s find out. Here are my top five prospects for the Boston Red Sox.
