MLB DFS: Locks, Stacks, and Barrels for June 12, 2019

Normally, any slate that features Justin Verlander, it’s almost a certainty you are playing him at one of your starting pitcher spots and moving on from there. Tonight, however, is a little bit trickier than that. Verlander draws a tough matchup on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers hit for power and Verlander can give some up. You will definitely want some exposure to Verlander to some capacity in tournaments, but maybe it’s best we look elsewhere in cash games. With that said, let’s dive in and take a look at today’s Locks, Stacks, and Barrels.

Tiger fans like me know that in early June, this season almost seems to be a lost cause. The calendar flips to June on this 2019 baseball season. At this point, all 30 teams have had hot and cold streaks. All 30 teams have felt the excitement, and now reality has hit. For some of these teams, the euphoria of a possible World Series coming to the city is possible. For others, the rebuilding continues. However, these two teams have the best record in their respective leagues as the calendar flips. Let’s break them down.

Weight: 210 LBs
Age: 18
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
MLB Pipeline Grades – Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 60 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 55 | Overall: 55
Matthew Allan is a right-handed starting pitcher who attends Seminole High School in Florida. He has a strong build with room to fill out more. He pitches with a relatively slow delivery and a large leg raise. His pitching mechanics come naturally to him, requiring little effort. He pitches with more control from the windup as opposed to the stretch. His fastball is accurate and tops out at 97 miles per hour. As he continues to mature physically, he will probably be able to dial his fastball up to 98-99. He was selected to play in the 2018 Perfect Game All-American Classic.
