The Seattle Mariners had a very promising 2018 season, albeit not good enough to secure a playoff birth. They finished with an 89-73 record, 14 games back of division leaders, the Houston Astros. They fell short of a Wild Card position to division foe, the Oakland Athletics who were eight games better.
Over the course of this offseason, the Seattle Mariners have entirely revamped their farm system. The struggle to rebuild the system has been challenging. However, the team is seemingly moving in the right direction entering the 2019 season. After unloading large contracts and aging veterans, Mariner fans have something to be excited about this year and beyond.
Now it’s time for the New York Yankees to attempt to make a run at 2019 and upgrade their pitching staff. The off-season has gotten off to a major start with the acquisition of James Paxton coming to New York from the Seattle Mariners for three prospects. The biggest name out of those prospects being Justus Sheffield, who everyone had high hopes for, but unfortunately after a late-season call-up last season which really did not pan out as hoped, he became expendable.
